An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced regulatory engagement professional to join ASX within the Regulatory Engagement Team
reporting to the General Manager Regulatory Engagement.
Working as a member of the Regulatory Engagement Team within Risk you will be
required to build both internal and external stakeholder relationships with
regulators and internal business groups across the ASX Executives and the Board.
Your Team
You will be part of the central Regulatory Engagement Team within the Risk Division of ASX.
Your responsibilities
Lead BAU Regulatory Engagements and the Uplift of Regulatory Engagement Frameworks and Capability:
- Proactively engage with domestic and international regulatory agencies to understand priorities respond to concerns and ensure ASX consistently meets regulatory expectations.
- Support the General Manager with the development and delivery of ASXs regulatory engagement strategy including contributing to annual regulatory engagement planning and identifying priority regulatory objectives themes and risks.
- Support forward planning of regulatory engagement by advising on the cadence sequencing and purpose of key supervisory meetings ensuring the right discussions occur at the right time to progress regulatory objectives and address emerging issues.
- Provide leadership coaching and guidance to internal stakeholders to uplift enterprise-wide capability and ensure consistent high-quality regulatory engagement in line with agreed standards expectations and best practice.
- Champion and embed the consistent use of ASXs Regulatory Engagement Principles across all ASX business units and support functions
Oversee the planning and execution of all BAU engagements with key domestic and international regulators ensuring meetings are well-structured purposeful and aligned with regulatory expectations including:-structured purposeful and aligned with regulatory expectations including:
- setting meeting agendas and ensuring meeting objectives are clearly defined;
- coordinating across ASX business units and support functions to produce clear accurate and highquality meeting materials;
- produce high-quality preparatory written briefings for Executive Leaders and where required the Board in relation to BAU and international regulatory engagements;
- leading preparatory briefings and postmeeting debriefs to ensure all ASX attendees are aligned informed and prepared to responto followup actions;
- producing highquality insightrich written summaries to support timely and meaningful reporting to Senior Management and the Board; and
- ensuring all actions arising from regulatory meetings are accurately captured assigned and tracked through to completion within agreed timeframes.
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of ASXs regulatory engagement frameworks policies and related documentation ensuring updates are completed in line with the annual review cycle.
- Support the development and adoption of new systems and capabilities to enhance the effectiveness and maturity of the Regulatory Engagement function.
RBA Financial Stability Standards (FSS) and Other Supervisory Assessments:
- Supporting the end-to-end management of ASXs annual RBA Financial Stability Standards assessment process including timelines stakeholder coordination quality assurance and submission governance and reporting to end management of ASXs annual RBA Financial Stability Standards assessment process including timelines stakeholder coordination quality assurance and submission governance
- Engage senior stakeholders to validate evidence address regulator feedback and ensure ASXs submissions reflect high standards of accuracy and accountability.
- Support and coordinate ASXs response to other domestic and international supervisory assessments reviews and peer reviews including those conducted by offshore regulators standard-setting bodies or international organisations where required.
- Bring together cross-functional teams across ASX to support complex supervisory assessments clarifying roles and responsibilities managing interdependencies and ensuring timely high-quality engagement with regulators.
- Support Executive Leaders and where required the Board with briefings and advice in relation to significant supervisory assessments including emerging themes risks regulator expectations and implications for ASX.
Team Development:
- Support the leaders in the regulatory engagement team to cultivate a high performing collaborative and accountable regulatory engagement team. -performing collaborative and accountable regulatory engagement team.
- Empower more junior team members to take initiative deepen their subject matter expertise and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Role model ASX values and foster an environment that encourages continuous learning open communication and professional excellence.
Must have
- Substantial experience in a compliance regulatory engagement or supervisory role within the financial markets or banking sector or another prudentially regulated environment with systemic importance recovery and resolution considerations.
- Demonstrated experience engaging effectively with domestic and/or international regulators across a range of seniority levels or alternatively experience working as a front-line regulator supervising financial markets or banking institutions.
- Proven experience working with Executive Management to develop and implement integrated strategic and operational plans.
- Strong experience preparing high-quality written materials for Boards Board Committees and regulatory authorities.
- Experience operating in complex highly regulated and fast-paced environments managing competing priorities and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to influence negotiate and constructively challenge with professionalism sound judgement and credibility.
Nice to have
- Tertiary qualifications in business commerce legal or a related discipline
- Experience in dealing with government bodies and regulators at a senior level achieving outcomes beneficial to the organisation and to its reputation for integrity
- Experience in a data/analytics driven environment
- Skilled in Governance Risk and Compliance tools
- Superior influencing written communication presentation and interpersonal skills
