Job Summary

The Budget Officer supports the organizations budgeting financial planning and performance monitoring processes including development of proposal budgets consolidation of organizational budgets and preparation of the monthly organizational financial performance reports.


As part of a transition structure the role collaborates closely with the Financial Analysis Officer Resource Mobilization Financial Analyst and Program Finance Focal assigned to key portfolios to ensure:

  • Proposal budgets are realistic and aligned with implementation capacity
  • Consistency between proposal budgets and organizational cost structures
  • Strong linkage between resource mobilization program implementation and financial sustainability
  • Improved portfolio visibility across active projects within the total funding portfolio.


The role contributes to building a coherent Budget and Planning function to deliver the organizations strategy.



Requirements

Essential knowledge or experience

  • At least 4-6 years relevant experience in budgeting financial analysis accounting and project finance
  • Experience supporting proposal budget preparation is an advantage
  • Experience working with multi-project budgets are an advantage
  • Experience in NGO or donor-funded program is an advantage


Desirable knowledge or experience


Technical

  • Strong Excel or financial data management skills
  • Understanding of cost structures and budgeting principles
  • Ability to manage structured financial datasets
  • Attention to detail and accuracy


Analytical

  • Ability to interpret financial trends
  • Structured and systematic approach to problem solving
  • Ability to synthesize inputs from multiple teams


Collaboration

  • Ability to work across multiple teams (e.g. technical and finance)
  • Clear communication of financial information and concepts to non-finance staff
  • Responsive coordination with program and finance teams
  • Ability to coordinate multiple inputs under tight timelines


Required qualifications and/or license/certification

  • A degree in Accounting Finance or related field
  • CPA or equivalent is an advantage
