We have an exciting opportunity for people to apply for part-time roles as a Leader in Charge at our Youth Hubs across East Sussex.
Role available:
- 1x Leader in Charge LGBTQ for 3.5 hours per week
What is a Leader in Charge
As youth workers we nurture and support the young people we work with so they can learn to make informed choices; we teach empowerment and equality helping the young people have a voice build positive relationships and reach their full potential. As a Leader in Charge you will create session plans oversee the operation and running of the session record session evaluations line manage a small team of part-time youth workers engage young people in the community offer support advice and guidance as well as handling any safeguarding concerns as a team.
Join us in supporting young people as they navigate the challenges and changes of society and themselves while transitioning from childhood to adulthood.
Training and career progression
Successful applicants will receive a full induction and training to support all aspects of their roles with ongoing support from their manager and colleagues.
Starting as a youth worker can pave the way for opportunities within keywork and social work should the successful applicant seek full-time employment.
About the sessions
We deliver sessions for young people aged 8 to 19 (up to 25 years for young people with SEN).
- LGBTQ - Our LGBTQ groups are safe spaces for young people to explore their identity and receive support and advice. Sessions usually run in the afternoon and evening unless specified otherwise.
We are looking for people who have:
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to be sensitive to the needs of young people and can relate to them at a meaningful level
- Ability to design and deliver activities with and for young people
- Ability to plan and deliver specific projects to engage young people
