Summary
- The Team Leader for Health and Housing will lead manage and develop the Health and Housing Team ensuring high standards of service delivery across the boroughs private rented sector. This role is pivotal in improving housing conditions contributing to strategic policy development and ensuring the council meets its statutory obligations. The post holder will also deputise for the Head of Environmental Health and Trading Standards when required.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Health and Housing Team including Environmental Health Officers Housing Standards Officers and Technical Officers.
- Oversee delegated budgets resources work programmes and performance management.
- Set objectives monitor progress address poor performance and support staff development.
- Ensure the team delivers against service plans statutory requirements and council priorities.
Essential Experience
- Significant experience managing teams including setting objectives monitoring performance and handling underperformance.
- Experience managing complex enforcement cases and prosecutions under the Housing Act.
- Experience leading projects campaigns or educational initiatives within Environmental Health or Housing.
Essential Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health.
- Registration with the CIEH Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB).
- Completed or working toward CIEH Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) / Assessment of Professional Development (APD).
- Full clean driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle.
Additional Information
- Working hours: 35 hours per week
- Bi-weekly payment schedule
- The role closes on 13th April 2026 apply ASAP.
