Project Overview
The client is seeking a senior-level AI Lead / Architect to design and build an enterprise AI platform within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem. This role will provide strategic direction while also contributing hands-on during the early stages of platform development.
The position is highly visible and requires ownership of architecture vendor alignment and delivery of a unified production-grade AI system. The selected candidate will help establish the foundation for AI initiatives and lead the development of an AI Center of Excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and own the enterprise AI platform architecture using Azure AI Foundry and Microsoft Azure
- Define a unified AI platform blueprint including agent orchestration API integration and memory management
- Act as the technical authority across all AI initiatives and vendor deliverables
- Lead integration of vendor-built components into a cohesive AI platform
- Build and deploy AI agents copilots and automated workflows using Microsoft Copilot Studio
- Develop multi-agent systems with frameworks such as Semantic Kernel AutoGen or LangChain
- Design and implement RAG pipelines including ingestion embeddings and retrieval strategies
- Collaborate with internal teams to align AI solutions with enterprise systems
- Establish and lead the AI Center of Excellence (CoE) including governance and standards
- Ensure responsible AI practices including compliance PII handling and bias mitigation
- Implement monitoring and observability for AI systems in production
- Partner with business stakeholders to identify and prioritize AI use cases
- Translate technical concepts into business-friendly communication for leadership
- Mentor internal teams and promote AI adoption and best practices
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science IT AI or a related field
- 7 years of experience in AI/ML engineering or architecture
- At least 3 years in a lead or architect-level role
- Proven experience with Azure AI Foundry in production environments
- Strong expertise in Azure OpenAI Azure Machine Learning and Azure API Management
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Copilot Studio for building AI solutions
- Experience designing multi-agent systems and agent orchestration
- Strong background in RAG architecture and vector databases (e.g. Azure AI Search Pinecone Weaviate)
- Advanced prompt engineering skills for agent-based workflows
- Experience managing multiple vendors and aligning deliverables
- Experience establishing or contributing to an AI Center of Excellence
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with MLOps practices (CI/CD model versioning deployment pipelines)
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric
- Azure certifications (AI Engineer Associate Solutions Architect Expert)
- Industry experience in manufacturing e-commerce or supply chain environments
- Exposure to AWS is a plus
