Supplier Operations Manager

Derby (Hybrid - min 3 days on site)

Full Time

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Supplier Operations Manager to join the Supplier Management Team in Derby. The role forms part of the Senior Leadership Team.

As Supplier Operations Manager you will lead and deliver targeted supplier interventions focused on the improvement of operational performance mitigation of operational risks and supporting the development of new capability in the external supply chain as needed by the business.

You will drive change management by influencing and coaching senior management teams both internally and in the Supply Chain to deliver step change in performance and Supply Chain stabilisation.

What you will be doing:

As Supplier Operations Manager you will executes supplier delivery improvement through analytics value chain understanding to identify and drive critical improvement plans within the Supplier intervention:

Delivering Resolutions to Complex Supply Chain Challenges

  • Responsible for working with selected suppliers to fix complex operational challenges affecting the delivery quality or cost performance of Rolls-Royce.
  • Working at supplier facilities and with the Supplier Management team to deploy tools and assessments which identify the root cause of problems across the value stream and then develop and deliver solutions to them leading project teams were needed to deliver a successful outcome.
  • Ensuring a framework for sustainable fixes is in place and that corrective actions are fully embedded.

Supplier Performance Improvement

  • Support the Supplier Management team by offering operational support to identify the root cause of chronic poor performance and generate a range of solutions delivering or leading their delivery as required.

Risk Mitigation

  • Liaise with other members of the SMT to identify emerging risks using standard business tools and ensure those risks are successfully managed to avoid impact to Rolls-Royce Operations.
  • Work with suppliers and other areas of Rolls-Royce Royce to develop solutions to prevent risks becoming issues.
  • Identify risks at supplier facilities and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to address them successfully.

Continuous Improvement

  • Support the identification and development of suppliers as required by the business to execute future business requirements from sourcing campaigns capability acquisition transfers or new product introduction.
  • Lead key initiatives for RR which deliver targeted improvements across the external supply chain including but not limited to topics relating to compliance sustainability risk reduction and efficiency improvements.
  • Facilitate the sharing of best practice both between Rolls-Royce and suppliers and amongst suppliers themselves to offer performance and/or cost improvements to Rolls-Royce.
  • Work within Rolls-Royce managing key stakeholder groups to affect change as needed on topics affecting supplier performance.

Preferred requirements:

  • BA degree or equivalent or significant industry experience.
  • Gravitas with leadership teams (A) Ability to build and influence senior level relationships both internally and externally.
  • Strong Integration / PM / Delivery mindset. Has a proven track record of delivering results.
  • Understands manufacturing processes and environments.
  • LEAN Green Belt DMAIC process practical problem-solving knowledge/experience.
  • Global outlook and exposure to different challenges cultures and ways of working.
  • Tenacity drive agility and the ability to travel globally.
