Job Summary

The Preschool Classroom Teacher is responsible for delivering a high-quality instructional experience consistent with the curriculum standards of the school district. This position is located at Fitchburg High School.

Essential duties for all faculty members include classroom instruction; conferences with students parents and colleagues; and active participation in the work of the department on curriculum development activities and pedagogy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university; Masters Degree preferred.
  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license in:
    • Early Childhood PreK-2
    • SEI Endorsement
  • Knowledge of current education legislation/regulations
  • Ability to work effectively with teachers support staff and parents and advocate for children to effectively problem-solve
  • Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills and ability to work with all stakeholders
  • Belief in the commitment to increasing personal growth both academic and social-emotional to obtain the highest level of achievement for every student.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The CPPI Preschool Teacher will:

  • Plan and deliver engaging standards-based learning experiences aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and district standards.
  • Establish clear objectives for lessons units and projects and guide students toward mastery of curriculum standards through innovative instructional strategies effective use of technology and differentiated instruction including the use of the Response to Intervention (RTI) framework.
  • Create and maintain a safe positive inclusive and equitable classroom environment that fosters student participation confidence and high expectations for achievement.
  • Develop and enforce reasonable classroom procedures and behavioral expectations supervise students effectively and maintain order in a fair and respectful manner consistent with district policies governing student life and conduct.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress using formal and informal measures.
  • Use assessment data to inform instruction and provide constructive feedback to students and families regarding academic and behavioral growth.
  • Collaborate with service providers colleagues administrators and families to support student learning and development including active participation in the special education process when required.
  • Promote equity and appreciation of diversity by implementing specific strategies to ensure equitable access and success for students with disabilities English Learners and diverse backgrounds.
  • Implement the districts mission philosophy instructional standards and policies in all professional responsibilities.
  • Attend and actively participate in faculty meetings and assigned school activities.
  • Maintain and continuously improve professional competence through participation in professional development self-directed learning and activities that meet district expectations and recertification requirements particularly as they relate to the assigned grade level and subject area.

Terms of Employment/Salary/Work Year:

As negotiated by the Fitchburg School Committee and theFitchburg Education Association(FEA). This is a 10-month position and willincludefour (4) weeks in the summer at the employees per diem rate.

Competitive and comprehensive health benefits are offered through the City of Fitchburg; offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of NCBC (fingerprinting) and CORI prior to your start of employment. Additional background check may be required.
