Job Summary

Keep current on educational issues and psychological practicesProvide the intensive psycho-educational evaluation of individual children identified or suspected of having a disability. Lead the development of functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans to assist teachers in improving student behaviors within the to the written report of the evaluation team and interpret the results of the psycho-educational evaluation for consideration in the development of the IEP for each child identified as a student with a disability. Prepare and submit a written report specifying findings of the psycho-educational with teachers parents and other educational personnel on matters relating to the education and/or mental health of children with disabilities to insure the provision of the appropriate education individually and in groups with students with disabilities and/or their as consultant to the schools in the development of educational evaluation pupil and personnel policies in-service activities curriculum and staff educational staff in implementing or modifying instructional strategies classroom management procedures and intervention strategies within the leadership from the field of school psychology regarding best practices in developing the multi-level system of supports within the screening programs mental health activities and referral to and consultation with outside service to a typical weekly both individually and as a team member with other OVESC personnel and personnel of the assigned excellent interpersonal skills Strive to maintain and improve professional suspected child abuse and/or neglect to authorities as required by a positive image of the OVESC and school districts. Maintains an acceptable attendance record and is staff meetings and serve on staff committees as other duties as assigned by the OVESC Superintendent or his/her designeeOTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Attend training sessions as determined by state or district policies and proceduresAttend professional development meetings and in-services as requiredAt the request of the supervisor attend parent conferences home visits or team meetings with school staffREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Ability to work effectively with othersAbility to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writingEffective active listening skillsOrganizational and problem solving skillsKnowledge of public school policies and practicesBasic computer skillsAbility to operate various office equipmentAbility to learn to operate adaptive equipmentCommitment to educationADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:Occasional interaction with unruly childrenOccasional exposure to blood bodily fluids and tissueOccasional requirement to travelOccasional repetitive hand motion e.g. computer keyboard typing calculator writingRegular requirement to sit stand walk hear see read speak reach stretch with hands and arms crouch kneel climb and stoopRequirement to lift carry push and pull various supplies and/or equipment up to a maximum of 50 pounds
