Job Summary

Position: Early Childhood Education & Care Teacher

Position Type: Full-time

Reports to: Principal CTE Director

Affiliation: WEA Unit A

Salary range: As determined by the WEA Salary Schedule Unit A

General Description: Watertown High School seeks a dynamic Early Childhood Education & Care Teacher to provide vocational training and curriculum development in accordance with the Massachusetts Education Career Cluster standards. The ideal candidate will bring industry experience and a passion for preparing students for careers in early education & care.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses in Child Development Curriculum Development Observation & Assessment Children with Special Needs Classroom Behavior Management Health/ Safety/Nutrition Family & Community Partnerships Pre-Practicum Practicum and Capstone Project/Internship.
  • Develop and implement rigorous standards-based lesson plans that foster student engagement.
  • Further develop curriculum and courses to support the expansion of this new Chapter 74 program.
  • Assess student learning and adjust instruction to promote growth.
  • Utilize industry-standard equipment and software for early childhood education & care.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and administration to enhance the CTE program.
  • Engage families and community partners in supporting student success.

Qualifications Required:

  • MA DESE Vocational Certification in Early Education & Care (or licensable/in-process certification). If not already licensed must achieve passing scores on a Literacy test the written Early Education & Care exam and the Early Education & Care performance exam within 1 year of employment.
  • SEI Endorsement required or obtainable within 1 year of employment.
  • Bachelors degree or higher in Early Education or related field.
  • Minimum three years of full-time employment experience directly related to Early Education & Care.

Preferred:

  • Multilingual candidates encouraged to apply with Spanish and Portuguese language skills preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to sit stand walk talk hear operate a computer hand-held learning devices and other office equipment reach with hands and arms and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
