JOB TITLE: CTE CULINARY ARTS TEACHER

CALENDAR: 1960 FOR NEW HIRES OR 1961 FOR RETURNING TEACHERS

SALARY: CERTIFIED TEACHER

Job Goal:

The primary goal is to equip students with the practical skills necessary to succeed in a kitchen or food service environment. This includes:

  • Teaching proper food preparation and cooking techniques.
  • Emphasizing safety and sanitation protocols
  • Covering topics such as menu planning nutrition inventory management and food sustainability.
  • Ensuring the curriculum is aligned with current industry standards and trends so students are learning skills that are in demand.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid AZ Dept of Education CTE Family and Consumer Sciences Teaching Certificate
  • Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Knowledge of instructional practices that support student-centered learning

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ServeSafe Managers Certification preferred
  • Experience as it relates to Culinary Arts is preferred
  • Experience with Career and Technical Education is preferred

Core Job Functions:

  • Equip students with the comprehensive technical knowledge skills and professional competencies essential for success in the culinary and food-service industry aligned with current industry standards
  • Instruct and guide students in foundational safety and sanitation practices
  • Design and implement student learning experiences covering topics including menu planning nutritional knowledge inventory management and food sustainability
  • Design and deliver student learning experiences that reflect current industry standards and emerging trends ensuring students gain relevant up-to-date skills for success in the workforce
  • Demonstrate expertise in the field of Culinary Arts
  • Oversee a Career and Technical Student Organization (FCCLA)
  • Develop and work with advisory committees and stakeholders
  • Participate in recruitment needs for the program
  • Plans and implements a program of study that as much as possible meets the individual needs interests and abilities of students within the district curriculum
  • Uses effective teaching techniques and materials to implement established curriculum goals and objectives
  • Creates a weekly written lesson plan describing daily learning experiences this weekly lesson plan is to be correlated with the aims and/or objectives in the curriculum guide and/or course outline
  • Monitors and assesses student progress to provide feedback regularly to students and their parents
  • Diagnoses instructs and evaluates specific student needs and seeks assistance of district specialists as required
  • Communicates aims and/or objectives to students in a well-planned organized manner using clear and precise language
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules fostering the development of positive student behaviors
  • Develops and implements reasonable classroom rules of behavior and procedure in a fair and just manner
  • Creates educational experiences that provide each student the opportunity to develop his/her potential in the areas of personal-social adjustment decision-making positive self-image and other life skills
  • Promotes and follows adopted school district philosophy policies regulations and administrative procedures
  • Communicates concerns and ideas with colleagues students parents andthe community in a positive professional and ethical manner
  • Assumes legal responsibility for the supervision of students on school property or in attendance at school-sponsored activities
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence
  • Assumes individual responsibilities which may be assigned by the Principal/Supervisor and which may relate to committee work student activities student supervision or other planning and professional assignments
  • Maintains accurate complete legible and correct records as required by law district policy and administrative regulation
  • Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities
  • Participate in department and school meetings
  • Participate in District and school initiatives
  • Meet any additional specific job requirements as indicated by the District or school site
