Job Summary
Role Overview
An established manufacturing organisation is seeking a highly skilled Plant Engineer to take ownership of plant maintenance equipment reliability and engineering optimisation.
This role is responsible for ensuring high plant availability driving preventative maintenance strategies and maintaining full compliance with safety environmental and engineering regulations. The successful candidate will also play a key role in continuous improvement technical leadership and mentoring within the engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Maintenance
- Ensure plant and equipment operate in full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Develop implement and optimise maintenance systems and strategies
- Drive preventative and predictive maintenance programmes
- Lead annual shutdown planning and execution
- Ensure machine and plant availability targets (95%) are consistently achieved
- Develop and implement machinery inspection plans
- Monitor and improve maintenance performance cost and efficiency
Compliance & Governance
- Fulfil responsibilities in line with GMR 2.1 requirements
- Ensure adherence to relevant engineering standards and international best practices
- Maintain compliance with Occupational Health Safety and Environmental legislation
- Ensure documentation aligns with ISO standards (ISO 9001 ISO 45001 ISO/TS22163)
Operational Support
- Provide technical support to production and SHERQ teams
- Lead and contribute to root cause analysis and problem-solving initiatives
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting to internal stakeholders
Continuous Improvement & Projects
- Lead engineering and plant optimisation projects
- Drive innovation in manufacturing processes and equipment design
- Contribute to improving overall plant efficiency and competitiveness
Leadership & Development
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff
- Promote knowledge sharing and continuous technical development within the team
Financial Management
- Develop and manage maintenance budgets
- Monitor costs and identify opportunities for optimisation and savings
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- GCC (Factories) essential
- Minimum 5 years experience in plant maintenance
- Minimum 3 years experience in SHERQ-related functions
- Proven management or leadership experience
- Experience with 3D CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks)
