We have an opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join their team of staff in theOutpatientsdepartment.
The Outpatients Department at the Harbour Hospital is busy and vibrant catering to a wide range of Clinical Specialties. This exciting role involves supporting Consultants and other clinicians to run high quality and efficient outpatient clinics providing treatment and care for outpatients attending the nurse-led clinic and ensuring patient satisfaction. Daily tasks will include setting up clinical rooms with specialist equipment chaperoning for physical examinations phlebotomy and other pathology related processes performing dressing changes and answering clinical queries remotely by phone or email. We also support the minor surgeries operating theatre. Full training will be given for the practical aspects of the role but the ability to multi-task prioritise and communicate clearly under pressure are important skills for successful candidate to possess.
This is a full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required tocover a flexible shift pattern.
Duties of this role include:
- Assist patients with personal hygiene washing dressing toileting oral care and mobility needs respecting their preferences and dignity.
- Help patients with eating drinking and nutritional support including documenting intake where appropriate.
- Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and relatives creating a caring and safe environment.
- Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure pulse respiratory rate temperature oxygen saturation and blood glucose levels (after appropriate training).
- Support basic clinical procedures including wound care setup assisting with catheter care pressure area prevention and mobility aids.
- Prepare and maintain clinical areas including trolleys beds and equipment in readiness for patient use.
- Work collaboratively with nurses doctors therapists and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital care home community or domiciliary).
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring compassionate attitude.
- Ability to follow instructions and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Basic literacy numeracy and IT skills.
- Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable.
- Knowledge of safeguarding infection control and confidentiality procedures.
