Job Summary
The Division of Regenerative Sciences & Periodontology at the James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine is seeking a Part-Time Clinical Faculty member (20% FTE) to support its clinical and educational missions. This position focuses on clinical supervision of residents and predoctoral students didactic teaching and support of clinical systems and quality initiatives.
Essential Job Duties
Serve as attending faculty in the Periodontics Resident Clinic
Serve as attending faculty in the Predoctoral Periodontics Clinic
Provide direct clinical supervision instruction and evaluation of residents and predoctoral dental students
Ensure delivery of high-quality patient care in compliance with divisional and institutional standards
Additional Responsibilities
Provide clinical coverage in resident and/or predoctoral clinics during faculty absences as needed
Serve as attending faculty in the Screening/Radiology Clinic when needed
Deliver predoctoral Periodontics lectures according to divisional needs
Provide training and support to residents and faculty in:
Epic Wisdom
XGuide dynamic navigation implant planning software and hardware
Assist with development and optimization of Epic clinical note templates for clinics outside of Periodontics
Work Schedule
One day per week (typically Thursdays)
Morning: Resident Periodontics Clinic
Afternoon: Predoctoral Periodontics Clinic
Required Qualifications
DDS/DMD or equivalent dental degree
Eligibility for faculty appointment at MUSC
Demonstrated experience in clinical teaching within Periodontics
Eligibility for South Carolina dental licensure
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Epic Wisdom
Experience with implant planning and dynamic navigation systems
Prior academic or clinical faculty experience
