ASH is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as Director Meetings Strategy. This pivotal role partners closely with the Chief Event Strategy Officer to lead the vision planning and execution of ASHs high-profile meetings portfolio ensuring the realization of its full business potential. This new Director will align ASHs organizational strategy with event planning to drive measurable results and focusing on overall effectiveness without the direct responsibility for the implementation of meeting logistics. Monitoring multi-million-dollar budgets this leader is responsible for driving operational excellence innovative business strategies and data-informed decisions that enhance the impact and reach of ASH-hosted events. Key responsibilities include guiding internal teams and external partners in creating events with enterprise impact cultivating high-value vendor and venue relationships and leading major contract negotiations to ensure long-term value financial sustainability and audience centricity. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop event frameworks for all conference and educational events that align with ASHs strategic priorities allowing for the design execution and evaluation of impact.

Ensure ASHs meetings have audience centricity by analyzing participant needs for maximum engagement and ROI.

Work with the events team to set Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for each meeting that measure enterprise impact and Return on Investment (ROI) by analyzing and interpreting meaningful patterns in data in order to make more informed business decisions.

Ensure that events continually drive measurable enterprise results.

Work to develop cohesive narratives that connect pre-event communication to post-event engagement to maximize the full business potential of every activation.

Lead the identification and cultivation of partners and sponsorships that align with ASHs meeting objectives and mission.

Develop comprehensive strategies to align partner objectives with the associations goals aimed at driving revenue through sponsorships and booth sales.

Work with internal teams to establish and track deliverables to ensure ROI for sponsors and exhibitors and ensure that on-site sponsorship benefits are delivered.

Identify new opportunities both within ASHs current meetings portfolio as well as new potential meetings along with developing the goals objectives strategies and tactics required to achieve them.

QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Bachelors degree required; advanced degree in business hospitality event management or related field preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in planning and executing large-scale high-profile national or international meetings and conferences.

Prior leadership experience in a professional association scientific society or healthcare-related organization strongly preferred. Experience organizing independent tradeshows leading strategy within a meeting management firm or event marketing agency etc. can be valuable.

Experience developing and managing multi-million-dollar budgets and using financial acumen to drive return on investment.

Demonstrated ability to translate organizational goals into effective event strategies that enhance engagement visibility and mission impact.

Proven track record of leading complex meeting portfolios including strategic planning logistics budgeting vendor management and performance measurement.

Track record of applying innovation and data insights from CRM AMS and analytics tools to enhance event experiences measure engagement depth and anticipate audience needs.

Strong experience in managing mentoring and developing staff and cross-functional teams.

Ability to lead with a collaborative inclusive and high-performance mindset especially within matrixed organizations.

Skilled at managing external consultants and vendors ensuring alignment with organizational standards and goals.

Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build and sustain relationships with venues strategic partners sponsors and internal stakeholders.

Deep experience in contract negotiation and risk mitigation with a focus on delivering financial and operational value to the organization.

Experience using event technology platforms and project management tools to drive efficiency and scale.

Strong executive presence and communication skills including the ability to influence at senior levels.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced high-stakes environment with multiple priorities and stakeholders.

Demonstrated commitment to creating and supporting inclusive environments in event design and team leadership.

Ability to work under pressure to keep confidential information and conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times.

Flexibility with schedule and willingness to work extended hours during the heavy conference season in order to meet deadlines.

COMPENSATION & LOCATION INFORMATION

Compensation for this role will reflect a range of factors including relevant experience demonstrated expertise and other considerations. ASHs starting salary estimate for this position is approximately $200000. Additionally ASH also offers a comprehensive benefits package for their employees. ASH has a hybrid work environment whereby eligible positions may work remotely on Mondays and Fridays and all staff report to the office Tuesday through Thursday each week.
