Background:
Our Enterprise Collaboration and Web Services (ECWS) Team provides web application and collaboration solutions in support of the Laboratorys technical mission and its day-to-day operations. These solutions include intranet and collaboration tools document management systems and web application development.
Within ECAWS GenAI team develops and operates Laboratorys generative AI infrastructure and applications. The team provides Laboratory staff with secure access to large language models for chat document analysis prompt engineering and knowledge management. The team also maintains API Gateway services manages model deployments and creates custom AI solutions tailored to Laboratory needs. This work enables cutting-edge AI capabilities while maintaining the security and compliance requirements essential to the Laboratorys mission.
ECAWS is looking for a DevOps engineer with a focus on Generative AI technologies to join our team. This role provides an opportunity for a motivated technical candidate who is looking to play a key role in enhancing the reliability scalability and security of our on-prem and cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will leverage their system administration automation and development skills to drive innovation and operational excellence.
As a DevOps engineer you will support the development and implementation of robust DevOps strategies practices and tools to act as a bridge between Development and Operation teams. Additionally you will maintain detailed technical documentation and ensure adherence to high standards for follow-up and organizational timelines.
Must Have:
Proven experience in deploying and maintaining application infrastructure with a particular focus on Generative AI technologies.
Proven hands-on experience with Linux administration particularly in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) distributions.
Proficiency in programming or scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
Strong understanding of cloud computing platforms (e.g. AWS Azure GCP) 3 years
Containerization/orchestration technologies (e.g. Docker Docker Swarm Kubernetes).
Strong understanding of Git version control for code and Docker image management.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues across pipelines applications and infrastructure layers to ensure operational stability.
Familiarity with monitoring logging and observability tools to enhance service insight and alerting. Experience with tools such as Prometheus Grafana and Splunk.
Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle(SDLC) and Agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum).
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a hybrid environment.
Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills. Adaptability to change.
Nice to Have:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field with 5 years of experience.
Experience with designing building and maintaining robust CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions Jenkins and Ansible.
Strong understanding of security and compliance principles previous experience in implementing DevSecOps practices.
Experience with AI Services such as AWS Bedrock or Azure AI Foundry.
Experience with Agentic frameworks or libraries (e.g. Model Context Protocol)
Work Location:
This position is VIRTUAL. The candidate can work remotely but they MUST live within 100 miles of Lexington so that they can come into the Lab if necessary for the needs of the program. The onsite work will NOT be regular.
US Citizenship is required due to nature of the work.
