SUMMARY

TheFire & Life Safety Team Leadis responsible for overseeing a team of FLS Technicians in the delivery of preventative and corrective maintenance routine and on-demand services on fire life & safety equipment for multiple facilities. The Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the execution of activities performed by Technicians to ensure that work is performed in accordance to established processes and practices and is in compliant with all internal and external requirements including but not limited to environmental health and safety fire addition to people leadership responsibilities the Crew Lead also performs and delivers preventative and corrective maintenance as well as routine and on-demand services.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

People Leadership

  • Leads a team of individual contributors
  • Assigns prioritizes and monitors work progress to ensure completion and adherence to timeliness quality standards and all other related requirements
  • Reviews work for completeness and accuracy. Ensures quality adherence is maintained
  • Guides coaches and trains direct reports
  • Provides input for performance review

Leads the delivery of as well as performs the following subject to legislative licensing requirements:

  • Oversees and monitors the activities and performance of Technicians within assigned region. Ensures that activities are performed in accordance to established processes as well as internal and external requirements including but not limited to environmental health and safety fire protection
  • Oversees compliance with all applicable fire codes standards regulations and licensing requirements
  • Oversees regional operations including inspections testing maintenance service repairs and small to midscale projects
  • Oversees and enforces standardized operational processes quality controls and performance metrics
  • Oversees and responds to routine and on-demand service requests and performs preventative and corrective maintenance fire & life safety equipment and systems
  • Oversees the maintenance of as well as maintains work order records within service management maintenance database. Initiates documents toobtain formal approval of work required
  • Coordinates and assists in the implementation of preventative maintenance program. Ensures that deficiencies are identified recorded and escalated and that related documentations are maintained
  • Coordinates and participates in FLS projects
  • Oversees and maintains all assigned tools and arranges for repair and replacement where required. Submits all expenditures on a timely basis
  • Provides participates and supports training safety meetings operational meetings tool box talks etc.
  • Must be able and willing to work shifts be available for on-call/standby and emergency call-outs as they arise
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Must be able to work shifts be on-call and be available to respond to emergencies
  • Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment
  • Must be able and willing to drive to and perform work at multiple sites

EDUCATION JOB-RELATED YEARS OF EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM EDUCATION:High school completion plus a specialized technical or business course

JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE: More than three years up to five years

Knowledge & Skills

  • More than 5 yearsof fire & life safety/sprinkler work experience
  • Previous people leadership experience preferred
  • High school diploma plus trades training and certification
  • Ability to lead a team of individuals
  • Highly-advanced ability to adhere to processes and practices relating to FLS operations and maintenance
  • Highly advanced ability to maintain and repair FLS equipment and systems
  • Highly advanced FLS equipment and system troubleshooting and resolution skills
  • Current knowledge of fire life safety and building codes and standards and ability to research and apply related codes and standards
  • Possesses a high level of environmental health and safety mindset. Ability to perform work in a safe manner
  • Strong client-service orientation along with a high sense of urgency
  • Effective communication skills for the purpose of data relay exchange feedback and clarification

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

Trade license in one or more of the following - required:

  • Sprinkler Fitter License/Certification
  • Must meet enhanced security clearance requirements
  • Valid drivers license

This is a regular full-time position with a salary range as per collective agreement.
