Job Summary

The Opportunity: Job Overview

The Montana School for the Deaf and Blind is seeking a self-motivated temporary Human Resources Generalist. This position coordinates and delivers human resources services for the agency including performance management recruiting coaching employee relations career planning and development data analysis and compensation.

Core Impact Areas

Responsibilities:

  • Establish implement maintain and explain human resources policies procedures and practices;

  • Investigate employee relations and performance issues and provide guidance and recommendations to management;

  • Develop and coordinate recruitment and selection processes;

  • Provide management training and coaching on human resource topics including performance management interviewing discipline documentation and coaching;

  • Gather relevant data and metrics provide insightful analysis in support of decision making and recommend appropriate solutions.

  • Write job descriptions and classify positions; and

  • Lead responses to grievances formal complaints or claims.



Education & Experience:

Required: Bachelors degree in human resources business management

  • Preferred: Related field and at least two years of generalist-level human resources experience.

  • Preferred: Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Required Competencies:

  • Communication: Excellent relationship-building and communications skills; Strong negotiation analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills;

  • Leadership: Change-management and leadership skills; Ability to function under pressure and manage conflicting points of view; Ability to demonstrate discretion integrity and fair-mindedness; and Ability to manage multiple sensitive or controversial issues simultaneously;

  • Technical: Knowledge of human resources information systems; Knowledge of human resources and the ability to manage human resources policies and programs; Knowledge of human resources information systems;
