Job Summary

Zoe Royer Member of Parliament for Port MoodyCoquitlam is seeking an experienced political leader to serve as Director of Operations.

About the role:

This is a senior executive role for a disciplined highly responsive operator whose commitment to excellence is unmatched. The successful candidate is someone who responds to the Member with urgency and precision and leaves nothing unfinished.

This role requires long demanding and unpredictable hours including evenings and weekends. Travel between Ottawa and the riding is expected 3-4 times annually.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Executive Accountability: Ensure seamless coordination between parliamentary and riding offices.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead the team by setting and evaluating performance expectations and ensuring budget compliance with the House of Commons regulations.
  • Strategic Oversight and Crisis Management: Stay abreast of emerging political and community developments to coordinating swift responses and stakeholder outreach.
  • Municipal and Regional Leadership Interface: Maintain structured proactive engagement with municipal leadership across the four cities in the riding: Port Moody Coquitlam Anmore and Belcarra.
  • Business & Community Leadership Build and maintain strong relationships with key industry stakeholders such as the Chambre of Commerce by proactively identifying opportunities to support and achieve mutual objectives.
  • Strategic Visibility & Growth: Lead a cohesive outreach and communications strategy by ensuring a disciplined daily digital presence unified messaging across all platforms proactive community engagement and the Members consistent visibility at key local institutions.
  • Volunteer Leadership & Community Mobilization: Oversees and builds engagement with volunteers who support the work of the constituency.
  • Parliamentary Votes & Floor Management: Ensure the Member is prepared for all House votes by maintaining awareness of developments and voting schedules coordinating closely with the Whips Office and providing concise briefs on upcoming votes.

Qualifications :

Education:

  • Post-secondary education from a recognized institution OR an acceptable combination of education training and relevant experience.

Experiences:

  • Minimum of five years of experience working in a political environment.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in leading and managing staff.
  • Experience in planning organizing and leading the work of others in working groups or projects and in implementing solutions adapted for the short medium and long-term.
  • Experience in preparing and delivering briefing documents containing advice and recommendations of strategic nature.
  • Extensive experience in managing both human and financial resources within a division or unit.
  • Experience in working collaboratively with external partners agencies and stakeholders to solve issues towards a common goal.
  • Experience preparing internal communications briefing materials and meeting documentation.
  • Experience in social media management with advanced proficiency in social media platforms such as Instagram Facebook and X.
  • Experience multitasking and prioritizing work demonstrating flexibility with the ability to quickly adapt to different situations
