Toyotas Safety Department is looking for a passionate and motivated SafetyEngineer within theStrategy & Planning group.

The primary responsibility of this role is tomanage projects related toElectrification (Lithium-ion Battery)Thermal Risk Managementimplementation across North America.The primary area of focus will includemonitoringelectrificationthermal riskactivityacrossmultiplestakeholder groupsto ensurebest practicesfor safety controlsandadherence to the electrification readiness plan.

What youll be doing

  • Co-Leadregionalelectrificationfocusedrisk assessmentprogramsandlithium-ion batterythermal hazard identificationfocused onteam member safety

  • Provide supportfor theToyota Motor North Americaregionworking to becomeaSubject Matter Expert (SME)inidentifyingevaluating and controlling hazards related tolithium-ion batteries

  • Partner with other divisions and departments tointerpretand implement federal state and local safety regulations related toelectrificationthermaleventprevention

  • Develop updateand maintainToyotatechnical safety standards related tolithium-ion batteryandthermalhazard identificationand risk assessment

  • Presentelectrificationthermal risk managementsafetystrategies andprojectstatusupdates to leadership and executives

  • Ability to work overtime as needed

  • Ability to travel up to25% domestic with possibleinternational travel as needed

What you bring

  • Bachelors degree in one of the following: Engineering(Chemical Electrical Mechanical etc.)Occupational Safety & Healthor a relatedengineering/technologyfield

  • Experiencedirectlyrelated tomanagingbattery safety/electrificationthermalrisk managementprograms

  • At least2yearsin a role wherebatterysafety/electrificationresponsibilities made up at least 50% of the professional duties

  • Demonstrated foundational understanding of NFPA ISO IEC UL AIAG and other relevant industry standards acquired under the supervision of senior engineers and management

  • Proven ability to handle projects involving critical thinking (kaizen) problem solving data analysis and verification

  • Direct experiencemanagingsafetysystemsandimplementing countermeasuresforlithium-ionbatteries

  • Direct experience performinglithium-ion batterythermal hazards risk assessments

  • Experience implementing safety through hierarchy of controls and design principles

  • Knowledge and proficiency infunctional safety systems related toelectrificationthermal risk managementand/ornew technologies

  • Experience working inautomotivemanufacturingor engineeringenvironments
