As Imports Lead you will be responsible for managing end-to-end import operations including sourcing QEM preparation negotiations customs clearance and documentation in full compliance with policies. You will drive costsmart initiatives through supplier evaluation financial analysis and optimization of duties freight and overall import expenses. You will also ensure smooth coordination with vendors banks government bodies and internal stakeholders to support timely and efficient international trade activities.
This role will report to Manager Procurement Pakistan and will have one direct report in team.
What you will do:
- Imports Operation Management - Oversee all import-related activities including QEM (Quotation Evaluation Matrix) preparation and approvals arranging supplies coordinating custom clearance managing bank contracts LC opening and processing advance payments. Ensure full compliance with company Policies SOPs and Work Instructions for imports of plant/machinery spares chemicals and intercompany purchases.
- Logistics Performance Improvement (International & Local)- Enhance the on-time delivery performance (Pakistan OTIF) through continuous improvement of both international and local logistics processes. Work closely with supply chain partners to ensure timely shipments reduced lead times and improved delivery accuracy.
- Purchase Requisition Review & Sourcing- Review purchase requisitions within the assigned portfolio identify detailed specifications and determine suitable sources. Ensure RFQs are responded to timely prepare and issue QEMs evaluate vendor quotations and conduct cost negotiations to achieve maximum savings for the company.
- Purchase Order & Contracting Activities- Manage approvals bookings and issuance of Purchase Orders (POs). Prepare landed cost analyses follow up on supplies and ensure smooth import documentation flow including custom duties sales tax bank charges freight and other logistics expenses.
- Financial Documentation & Expense Management- Enter park and clear all expenses related to imports. Coordinate with banks for timely clearance of financial instruments documents and advance adjustments. Ensure accurate financial recording of imported materials/services through SES/GRS postings.
- Import Case Closure & Stakeholder Coordination - Ensure formal closure of import cases by aligning all stakeholders including supply chain finance logistics and vendors. Resolve discrepancies finalize documentation and complete all compliance requirements for each case.
- Cost Saving & Process Optimization- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives to support cost-smart imports. Continuously look for opportunities to reduce duty freight logistics cost and procurement expenses without compromising quality or compliance.
- Supplier Evaluation & Development - Arrange registration and evaluation of new suppliers to maintain competitive sourcing and reduce supply risks. Support local and global teams in vendor assessments and ensure a robust supply base for all import categories.
- Customer & Stakeholder Relationship Management - Serve as a liaison with internal and external customers including vendors banks government bodies shipping lines trade organizations and customs agents. Ensure seamless communication and issue resolution for smooth import operations.
- Tax & Legal Alignment for International Trade - Coordinate with Tax and Legal departments to ensure compliance with international trade regulations. Provide analytical support for prices and documentation related to imports of machinery parts chemicals and materials sourced through affiliates.
- Financial Acumen & Budget Management - Lead budgeting and cost analysis for imports. Manage import duties freight charges and other financial aspects to ensure accurate forecasting cost control and alignment with company financial targets.
What will you bring:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent 4 years in commerce business IT or Science subject (Masters in the same will be preferred)
- 3 to 5 years of work experience preferably possessing knowledge of all import policies and procedures.
- Trade Compliance with detailed knowledge of import/export regulations tariffs customs documentation (incoterms bills of landing) and trade agreements.
- Good proficiency in ERP/ SAP MS office and PSW
