Primary Purpose:
Coordinate special education programming on the campus level by providing direct and indirect support to campus administration student service personnel and instructional staff. Assist special education district administrators evaluation personnel and campus instructional staff in the development implementation program evaluation and instructional services related to special education.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelors degree from accredited college or university Valid Texas teaching Certificate
Masters degree from accredited college or university in special education preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Understanding of law and disability that allows implementation of a well-planned and compliant program
Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional learning/development Strong systems level organizational planning and execution ability
Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills Proficiency in use of technology resources to empower learning
Ability to determine data points and provide analysis to ensure appropriate supports and services are identified and applied
Experience:
3 years experience and knowledge in special education services is required
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Program Coordinator
- Collaborates with Chief Academic Officer to ensure compliance with all federal state and local standards; keep abreast of current and impending legislation.
- Assists the Chief Academic Officer and the district in maintaining and communicating current knowledge of federal state and local requirements relevant to special education
- Collaborates with Chief Academic Officer to develop coordinate and review district special education services; makes recommendations and adjustments in services as appropriate.
- Maintains current confidential accurate and compliant student records including becoming intimately familiar with student records and actively monitoring progress and deadlines in order to ensure compliance with district state and federal guidelines.
- Collaborates with the Chief Academic Officer and Campus Principals to provide relevant research-based training to all special education and general education teachers regarding IEPs inclusion services and other appropriate instructional strategies for students with disabilities.
- Collaborates with the Chief Academic Officer to ensure coherent appropriate curricula and modifications for all special education students is maintained.
- Provide oversight and support through periodic observation of ARD committee meetings to ensure consistent high-quality implementation and alignment with district and state special education policies and procedures. Coordinates with students special education case manager/teacher to ensure all documents are completed in a timely manner prior to ARD meeting.
- Provides oversight through campus-based quality checks to ensure special education services are consistently implemented in alignment with students IEPs.
- Supports special education teachers in monitoring students progress toward IEP/academic goals and maintaining timely communication of that progress among students parents teachers and
- Establishes and oversees a system for sharing current special education programming information with classroom teachers through Eduphoria or other platforms ensuring consistent implementation with fidelity.
- Ensures evaluations and ARD Committee meetings adhere to state and federal
- Compiles maintains and files all required physical and computerized reports records and other
- Streamlines the testing process for students by coordinating appropriate testing evaluation and identification of students who qualify for special education services and students who require re-
- Communicates with outside therapy companies as needed to coordinate necessary services including but not limited to speech occupational and physical therapy.
- Collaborates with campus 504 Coordinator RTI Coordinator and student success teams to coordinate Child Find efforts on assigned campuses.
- Participates in due process hearings manifestation determination reviews and legal proceedings as necessary.
- Participates in documentation required for State Performance Plan indicators and Corrective Action Plans as requested by Chief Academic Officer.
- Collaborates with the Campus Testing Coordinators to ensure alternate state assessment procedures are followed by teachers.
- Completes and monitors data reports to provide accurate information regarding special education related programs.
- Monitors accuracy of PEIMS data for all the SPED
- Collaborates with Chief Academic Officer in developing compiling and updating annually department handbooks and operating guidelines.
- Facilitates parent training options and opportunities on topics related to their children and their

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals and other instructional equipment
Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking
Lifting: May require regular heavy lifting (45 pounds or more) and positioning of students with physical disabilities control behavior through physical restraint assist non ambulatory students and lift and move adaptive equipment; may work prolonged or irregular hours
Environment: Exposure to biological hazards; may require districtwide travel
