Under the general supervision of the Supervising electrician performs journey level electrical installations maintenance and repair within the buildings grounds and structures of the University and other related duties as required.

The ideal candidate possesses strong knowledge of National and California Electrical Codes and demonstrates the ability to read interpret and work from plans and drawings. They bring general expertise in electrical tools safety practices installation and maintenance along with the capability to direct the work of unskilled helpers. The candidate can read write and perform essential arithmetic functions and has the physical strength required for lifting and carrying loads (50 lbs. independently and up to 100 lbs. with assistance) as well as for standing climbing crawling and walking as needed for the job. They are able to learn and effectively use a sophisticated computerized work system appropriate to the position. A solid work history marked by personal integrity is essential as is adherence to all University and departmental policies procedures and guidelines including those related to safety civility while consistently maintaining a safe work environment.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies procedures and guidelines including but not limited to safety civility information security and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the universitys commitment to a vision of excellence.
Equivalent to a high school diploma and journey-level Electrician skills similar to that acquired through the completion of an Electrician apprenticeship program required.
Proof of California State Electrical Certification strongly preferred.
Valid California drivers license required.
Employees who are required to operate motorized vehicles and/or use their personal vehicle more than once a month on University business are required to take a mandatory Defensive Driving course and enroll in the DMV Employee Pull Notice (EPN) Program.
