Library Paraprofessional-Outreach-Youth
- Interacts with library patrons to assist them in selecting materials or meeting informational needs.
- Explains the use of reference sources such as bibliographic indexes or computer assisted reference tools.
- Searches catalog databases and print sources to answer patron inquiries.
- Assists with collection development and maintenance.
- Plans and conducts tours and programs.
- Assembles and arranges displays and bibliographies of books and other library material.
- Assists and/or instructs other employees with their duties.
- Performs database maintenance.
- Develop perform and/or manage youth services programming.
- Plan and perform school visits and other outreach activities.
- Catalogs and classifies library materials such as books audiovisual materials etc.
- Provides bibliographic control using MARC Records.
- Creates records changes holding using and automated system.
- Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors Degree
- One year job related experience
- Requires evening and weekend work.
- Computer skills; good verbal and written communication organizational skills; Interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public other employees and elected officials; Ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner.
