Job Description

As Technical Developer for the Digital Twin Federation Framework you build and implement an abstract easy-to-use platform that enables all university departments to integrate their digital twins into education. You develop the federation framework and the reusable building blocks (such as APIs connectors templates and reference implementations) so teams can onboard their twins quickly and consistently without reinventing architecture.

In addition you standardize the way digital twins are developed across the university by defining a clear Digital Twin development methodology and a shared Digital Twin lifecycle from initial concept and modelling through integration validation deployment operation continuous improvement and eventual retirement. You translate this lifecycle into practical guidance that departments can actually follow including conventions for data models and interfaces versioning validation and quality checks.

You also create and maintain a central repository of reusable models tools examples and documentation that explains the process end-to-end and helps departments of different technical maturity levels succeed.

A key part of your role is communication and cooperation: you actively engage with departments to understand their educational and technical needs convert those needs into clear requirements and incorporate them into your approach and platform roadmap. The result is a framework that is adopted because it is supportive consistent and practicalenabling hands-on learning and hybrid education through accessible reliable digital twins.

This 1.0 FTE position is funded for a two-year term aligned with the DRIVE projects scope and timeline.

Job Requirements

  • Education & fundamentals: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience) with strong foundations in programming OOP data structures/algorithms and distributed systems.
  • Digital Twins & simulation mindset: Affinity with Digital Twin concepts (integration modeling lifecycle thinking) and interest in simulation-driven or model-based engineering approaches; experience with robotics/simulation is a plus.
  • Software engineering & architecture: Strong development skills and proven ability to design maintainable solutions using clean architecture/patterns; able to deliver end-to-end software including secure user workflows (e.g. role-based access control).
  • Integration & data: Experience building integrations and platform components working with relational databases and SQL and using Git/GitHub in collaborative workflows.
  • Technology breadth (incl. gaming tech): Comfortable working with additional languages and frameworks when needed (e.g. C# Java C/C JavaScript PHP; Laravel/ or similar) and/or real-time 3D / gaming technologies used for visualization and interactive learning (e.g. Unity/Unreal or comparable engines).
  • Collaboration & delivery: Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills; able to work in Agile teams and coordinate or lead work when needed.
