Job Description:
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Mainframe Developer with deep expertise in COBOL CICS DB2 and JCL to support and enhance mission-critical applications. The candidate will play a key role in development maintenance production support and modernization initiatives in a high-volume enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design develop test and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL CICS DB2 and JCL
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications
- Perform impact analysis and support system enhancements and upgrades
- Develop and optimize DB2 SQL queries stored procedures and performance tuning
- Handle production support incident resolution and root cause analysis
- Work on batch and online (CICS) processing systems
- Prepare functional and technical design documents
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA business analysts and infrastructure teams
- Participate in code reviews testing (unit integration UAT) and deployment activities
- Ensure adherence to coding standards security policies and SLA commitments
Required Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in:
- COBOL (Structured & Object-Oriented)
- CICS (Customer Information Control System)
- DB2 (SQL Stored Procedures Performance Tuning)
- JCL (Job Control Language)
- Experience with:
- VSAM IMS (optional but preferred)
- Mainframe utilities (SORT IDCAMS IEBGENER)
- Debugging tools like Expeditor Abend-AID
- Knowledge of:
- Batch processing and scheduling tools (e.g. Control-M CA-7)
- Version control tools (Endevor Changeman)
- Familiarity with mainframe modernization or API integration is a plus
