Job Title: Payroll Specialist
Reporting Relationship: Director of Payroll Services
Unit: Central Administration
Department: Payroll
Campus Location: Elder Hall - Marion IN
Summary of Position: This position operates within a team that is responsible for all functions of the pay processing for all hourly administrative faculty student and/or adjuncts and may include Indiana Wesleyan University subsidiaries. Duties may include accurately processing pay maintaining time keeping records entering stipends and changes for the pay reviewing payroll reports for accuracy and entering direct deposit and tax information for multiple states and jurisdictions.
Because of the wide range of services provided by this team of specialists selected duties and responsibilities below may be assigned to an individual employee as a primary focus.
The expected hire date would be effective June 22 2026 in connection with an upcoming retirement.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Payroll processing of all IWU employees which may include hourly administrative faculty adjunct instructors and/or student workers
- Enter wage and general ledger data
- Enter leave benefits and deduction changes
- Enter tax and direct deposit information
- Process garnishment and child support payments
- Prorate leave balances for new hires and outgoing employees
- Enter all administrative leave time
- Enter stipends for various additional pays for employees
- Employee Assistance
- Provide tax information to employees regarding tax withholding and W2 forms
- Assist employees with leave (sick/vacation/wellness) and time entry information
- Assist employees with the third-party website for W2 forms
- Assist adjuncts with course and pay information
- Departmental Projects
- Assist in departmental projects and other duties as assigned
- Occasional Saturday hours may be required for university events
- Collaborate with Other Departments
- Work closely with Employee Success & Care (HR) on a daily basis
- Work closely with Academic Affairs on faculty salary information and GL charges
- Provide excellent customer service to all departments when answering questions or providing information/reports

Education - Associate bachelors degree in Business or Accounting preferred
Experience - Minimum of three (3) years of payroll experience
- Basic knowledge of payroll processes and accounting
- Tax knowledge HR and higher education experience is preferred

- Time-management skills (ability to meet various deadlines)
- Strong math skills
