Job Summary

Investment Management Fintech Strategies (IMFS) is a global team headquartered in Malvern Pennsylvania. IMFS serves to actively explore new technologies in ways that could dramatically improve the Vanguards investment performance make capital markets work better for our investors and embed a culture of innovation throughout Vanguard. This team seeks out internal and external partners and prospects all aspects of technology for ways to experiment and disrupt securities investing across all asset classes. We focus on data strategies including new sources of data and advanced analytics capabilities including machine learning and artificial intelligence; platform and visualization strategies; and market structure strategies.

Responsibilities:

Design and enhance proprietary data pipelines and market data platforms
Lead the onboarding of new data products for research and hypotheses testing requiring large scale historical data
Work closely with data scientists on implementation of AI/ML models
Mentor junior engineers to develop production quality code data pipelines and analytics tools
Collaborate with product and technology teams to drive the integration of analytics tools into production systems
Work on proof-of-concepts and prototypes involving ingestion of unstructured data into Generative AI tools
Stay current on latest innovation in application of AI in financial markets

Qualifications:

Educational background in Computer Science Engineeringor related discipline with excellent academic credentials
Strong knowledge of multiple financial data domains
Deep knowledge of database concepts with proficiency in SQL and stored procedures
7 years of strong coding experience in Python C C# and SQL
Experience in processing large and complex datasets
Exposure to equities trading environment and domain knowledge in market microstructure a plus
Has intellectual curiosity and is highly motivated to learn application of new technologies
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
Self-starter motivated independent curious versatile team player
