ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The Private Partnerships Division (PSP) is responsible for mobilizing resources from the private sector. PSP has developed an ambitious five-year strategy and our ambition is based on need. The World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. Every day 5000 WFP-chartered trucks are on the road; 80 planes are in the air and 20 ships are at sea.
Work as hard as we might through drought and floods conflict and peace disasters natural or man-made the needs are immense and growing. 318 million people in the world are acutely food insure. To get to a world with Zero Hunger faster WFP has significantly increased resources in recent years from donor governments. We are now investing in and grow private sector fundraising to reach more people. WFPs private sector strategy () proposes to dramatically increase income from individuals to help reach more people and get to Zero Hunger faster using digital engagement tools to reach audiences across the globe in a flexible and cost-effective way.
Traditional individual fundraising in our sector was primarily conducted through offline channels and implemented through national fundraising operations. The individual fundraising market now looks vastly different with many potential donors having a digital presence and comfort with transacting online. WFP has a unique opportunity to define its approach amid this digital change and leapfrog peers through its creation of a digital-led fundraising strategy that engages people worldwide from one centralized team. Our digital focus elevates the importance of an agile approach to delivering opportunities to engage.


FUNDRAISING FROM INDIVIDUALS
Fundraising from individuals can deliver significant revenue and loyal donors as well as valuable unrestricted funds. During WFPs Private Sector Partnerships & Fundraising strategy () income from individuals is estimated to triple to USD 304m p.a. in 2030.
To achieve this income growth WFP continues to significantly and it is critical that the investment in this programme to raise funds from individuals is as effective as possible: generating a high return on every dollar invested and attracting loyal donors who will continue to support WFPs work for many years.
The income growth will be delivered by IG and STM teams taking a global and digital-first approach and recruiting individual donors in all countries in the world plus two Friends organizations in the USA and Japan. Continuing to attract new supporters and engage them so that hungry people can count on their ongoing generosity requires a regular flow of content from WFPs country offices around the world to represent the people we serve.

PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
Head of Global Content Hub will develop and implement a strategy to deliver inspiring communications and content with a regular flow of content for IF teams. They will have the responsibility for coordinating with relevant teams in the field including Regional Offices (ROs) Country Offices (COs) and Communications (COM) as well as PSP teams and will ensure all communications and content follow brand guidelines and agreed organizational messaging and do not pose a reputational risk to the organisation. This will include embedding the sector best practice included in WFPs image and story guidelines on capturing informed consent from people who agree to feature in our communications to supporters. The content will span the full range of WFPs programmes from Saving Lives to Changing Lives. The consultant will provide guidance to PSP and COM colleagues as needed and help troubleshoot challenges if they arise.
They will be able to work at the strategic level as well as with a range of stakeholders in headquarters teams as well as in regional and country teams but also at times hands-on including leading content gathering field trips. They will have experience of working in country communications teams in both humanitarian and development contexts as well as producing communications assets for digital channels and social media platforms.
They will line report to the Deputy Director of PSP. They will also work with WFPs Friends organisations and their marketing or fundraising communications teams.
They will lead a small team (2-3 consultants) who will deliver multi-media content gathering and production story producing curating and uploading content to the Multimedia Hub for use across WFP. They will oversee and report on the budget allocated for the consultant team and content gathering and will maintain a roster of agencies or freelance consultants who are closer to the field and so can gather content more cost-effectively and benefit from local knowledge including addition they will build and manage a decentralized network of content contributors across regions equipping local collaborators with tools training and guidance to gather timely human-focused content. They will also leverage existing WFP personnel in the field to support content creation whenever appropriate.


ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
In their role leading the creation and management of a Global Supporter Content Hub in PSP the candidate will:
1. Lead the Global Supporter Content Hub coordinating across PSP COM ROs COs and ensuring all content aligns with WFP brand ethical storytelling standards and organizational messaging.
2. Develop and manage an annual content plan that identifies priority regions and themes balances short-term needs with long-term objectives and ensures a consistent flow of high-quality content for IG STM and Friends teams.
3. Build and oversee a decentralized network of content contributors including field staff and local collaborators by providing tools training and guidance to capture timely human-focused ethically gathered stories.
4. Coordinate and quality-assure content gathering including targeted field visits participation in COM-led missions and ensuring clear briefs strong editorial oversight and streamlined clearance processesincluding fast-track procedures during emergencies.
5. Strengthen content-gathering capacity across the organisation by delivering training for field staff and fundraisers promoting ethical storytelling and fostering internal engagement through creative campaigns encouraging staff participation.
6. Adapt and package content into user-friendly assets ensuring appropriate contextual information and maintaining alignment with messaging needs for supporter acquisition development and retention.
7. Collaborate across teams (IG STM PSP Comms COM Creative Studio) to ensure integration of content needs coordinate emergency response workflows and test and refine content strategies using digital AI-driven and personalization approaches.
8. Facilitate continuous learning and feedback maintaining regular feedback loops with COM ROs and COs; monitoring content impact; and sharing results to improve future planning.
9. Ensure strong internal and external partnerships including with communications teams social media platforms creative agencies and other content partners to maintain high-quality outputs and efficient workflows.
10. Lead and develop the Content Hub team ensuring effective contracting performance management budget oversight risk mitigation and a high-performing values-aligned team culture.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT
o Global Supporter Content Hub fully established with clear workflows and coordination mechanisms across PSP COM ROs and COs.
o Annual content plan delivered including priority regions/themes and a steady pipeline of high-quality ethically gathered content.
o Decentralized network of trained content contributors operational supported by toolkits and guidance materials.
o Streamlined content clearance system functioning including a documented and tested fast-track emergency process.
o Ready-to-use packages of stories multimedia assets and contextual briefs supplied for supporter acquisition and retention.
o Content performance insights produced with recommendations for future planning developed with Individual Fundraising.
o Increased internal engagement demonstrated through at least one organization-wide storytelling or content participation initiative.
o Content Hub team fully established and performing with clear workplans managed budgets and completed performance reviews.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education
Advanced university degree in Communications Business Economics Marketing Political Science International Development or other relevant field or first university degree with additional years of related work experience or training/courses.
Experience
At least 9 years progressive experience with both national and international organisations in the not-for-profit sector in communications including in digital channels. Ideally including experience
a) at the international level in the UN
b) at international NGOs
c) in humanitarian contexts (Saving Lives)
d) in development contexts (Changing Lives)
Demonstrated experience of delivering content for use by multiple teams in an international organisation including teams attracting funds from private sector supporters
Experience of managing team members.
Technical skills
A natural selfstarter with at least 9 years progressive experience working in the not-for-profit sector and/or agencies in communications roles
Experience with national / international teams ideally including UN agencies with experience working with digital platforms an advantage
Evidence of collaborating with stakeholders across an international organization at national regional and international levels
Experience in a country in a humanitarian context an advantage
Soft skills
Fully committed and motivated to achieve the aims of the World Food Programme
Languages
Ability to work effectively with peers and with colleagues including remote teams as well as regional or country offices
The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people in a multi-cultural multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity
Ability to build relationships with internal stakeholders and business partners as well as with external partners and suppliers and act as an effective negotiator for WFP
Strong presentation and planning skills
Ability to think creatively and deliver on commitments.
Excellent command of spoken and written English (fluency/level C knowledge).
Knowledge of another official UN language would be a plus.
