This position provides management for the engineers and technicians involved in the Fab wafer process or optical coating area of Thorlabs Quantum Electronics. This includes all operations associated with Front End of Line (FEOL) and Back End of Line (BEOL) in the Fab. Responsibilities include 1) management of process engineers to assure that engineering support is provided in a timely manner and manufacturing processes are capable (Cp >1) and operating in spec. 2) management of the engineers in the development of new fab processes sustaining existing processes for production (including quality metrics and documentation of these processes) monitoring performance of fab coating equipment as well as introduction new coating equipment.
- Manage process engineers team to perform the following key functions for the organization:
- Introduce new product process equipment or materials into wafer fab in a timely safe manner using effective design input evaluation testing and project management.
- Utilize continuous improvement tools project management skills team leadership and basic engineering skills to 1) reduce manufacturing costs 2) improve/sustain tight control of wafer fab manufacturing process.
- Provide product line support in addressing all process/equipment issues and creating/maintaining all development and production routes used by the wafer fab.
- Provide engineering equipment ownership via creating/maintaining equipment operation procedures setting up quality indicator procedures developing effective PMs and supporting maintenance/ops team during equipment down events.
- Focal point for investigating/resolving all process and equipment failure issues associated with the coating area.
- Provide detailed data reports associated with Fab operations (production output technician productivity training status etc).
- Oversee the engineering change control system related to Fab.
- Interface with various product line teams to assure fab team is meeting delivery and performance goals and giving the necessary support.
- Interface with Assembly Line Facilities and other groups that may require Fab resources.
- Improve Fab process technicians and engineering teams core capabilities by offering training and other developmental opportunities.
The Company retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position.
RequirementsExperience:
Minimum 10 years of experience in wafer fab processing.
Minimum 3 years of experience of managing people
Education:
Masters Degree (or higher) in material/electrical Engineering or related field(s) is required.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
JMP DOE SPC Working knowledge of semiconductor fabrication processes and specific expertise in different aspects of wafer fab process engineering.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Experience with semiconductor process development sustaining new process introduction and ramp to volume.
Experience supporting the 24x7 fab operations team writing and training of fab procedures root cause analysis and problem resolution.
Strong commitment to personal development and growth
The estimated pay range for this role is $135000 - $ 186000 annually
