Job Summary
The Nurse Manager II Operating Room (OR) is responsible for leading perioperative services within an acute care hospital setting. This role oversees clinical operations patient care delivery staff performance and regulatory compliance while ensuring high-quality safe and efficient surgical services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Operating Room (OR) clinical operations and patient care delivery
- Oversee staff performance scheduling training and development
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards including The Joint Commission (TJC) Nursing Practice Act and federal/state requirements
- Manage departmental budgets financial planning and cost control initiatives
- Collaborate with surgeons anesthesia teams and interdisciplinary staff to ensure efficient surgical workflow
- Monitor and improve quality patient safety and operational performance
- Lead process improvement and strategic initiatives within perioperative services
- Ensure proper utilization of resources equipment and supplies
- Support emergency preparedness planning and operational readiness
- Address and resolve patient staff and operational concerns
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelors degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (California required at hire)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum 5 years of experience in patient care delivery
- Minimum 5 years of experience in healthcare operations or clinical setting
- Minimum 4 years of leadership experience
- Strong experience in Main Operating Room (OR) within an acute care hospital
- Experience with regulatory compliance (TJC federal and state regulations)
Preferred:
- Masters degree in Nursing (MSN)
- CNOR certification
- Experience in unionized hospital environment
- Project management and change management experience
- Data analysis and reporting skills
