Job Summary
Introduction
THIS IS A NEW ASSEMBLED EXAMINATION. The eligible list resulting from this examination will cancel any existing list and may last approximately one year but can be extended.
Supplemental Questionnaire:A properly completed Supplemental Questionnaire must be submitted with each application. Applications and Supplemental Questionnaires must be in the possession of the Human Resource Services Department by 5:00:00 p.m. on the Last Day for Filing. Failure to submit the Supplemental Questionnaire will result in disqualification.

DESCRIPTION
- The Behavioral Health Department provides mental health and substance use services for people with Medi-Cal and without insurance and supports people along their path to wellness recovery and resilience.
- The Environmental Health Department works to keep our air water and food safe; it regulates protects and promotes the health of everyone in Alameda County by enforcing environmental health codes to reduce exposure to toxins and diseases.
- The Public Health Department focuses on community and population-level health preventing and addressing root causes of health inequity across a range of communicable and chronic diseases.
- Alameda County Health also provides services through Housing and Homelessness Services Emergency Medical Services Agency HealthPAC and Healthy Schools and Communities.
Under general direction to lead and instruct licensed occupational and physical therapists supportive personnel and students/interns; to assist in the development of therapeutic techniques and necessary equipment involved; to organize the student internship program to review medical requests for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) or physical and/or occupational therapy services to determine California Childrens Services (CCS) eligibility and to provide and coordinate the provision of the full range of physical and occupational therapy services at a school based site.

- Demonstrated leadership through participation in program development work groups or orientation of new staff or students.
- Excellent communication and mentoring skills and the ability to work with a diverse staff and client population.
- Provide high quality family-centered results-based program services and will be able to act as the Supervising Therapist in his/her absence.
- A strong knowledge of DME for clients with complex special health care concerns.
- Strong clinical skills for the pediatric population with an ability to apply current evidence-based principles and practices.
- Demonstrated organization with the skill and ability to coordinate administrative and clinical duties on a daily basis manage time and appropriately prioritize goals and assignments.
- Leadership qualities including exceptional interpersonal verbal and written communication and facilitation skills to communicate with staff community agencies clients and their families.
- Understanding and sensitivity towards families with complex social economic and medical issues.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The equivalent of two years of full-time experience as an occupational or physical therapist in a California Childrens Services or pediatric setting.
Graduation from an accredited occupational or physical therapy professional program.
Certification/Licensure:
Licensure by the Physical Therapy Board of California or licensure by the California Board of Occupational Therapy. Some positions may require that you become a State approved California Children Services (CCS) Neuromotor Impairment Severity Score (NISS) trainer.

- Facilitate and model effective written and oral communications with attention to linguistic preferences and cultural proficiency to influence behavior and improve health.

- Operate multiple software programs.
- Exercise interpersonal sensitivity and group interaction skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Incorporate departmental core values and ethical standards of practice into all interactions with individuals organizations and communities.
EXAMINATION COMPONENTS
THE EXAMINATION WILL CONSIST OF THE FOLLOWING STEPS:
- A review of applicants applications to verify possession of minimum requirements. Those candidates who possess the minimum requirements for the class will move on to the next step in the examination process.
- A review of the supplemental questionnaire to determine best qualified. Those candidates considered the best qualified will move on to the next step in the examination process.
- An oral interview which will be weighted as 100% of the candidates final examination score. The oral interview may contain situational exercises.
CANDIDATES MUST ATTAIN A QUALIFYING RATING ON EACH PORTION OF THIS EXAMINATION.
