Job Summary
Do you want to protect and enhance the environment We have an exciting opportunity to join our Radioactive Substances Regulation Teams based in Hertfordshire and North London (covering Kent and South London) and/or Thames (covering Solent and South Downs Wessex and Devon and Cornwall).
Responsible for the regulation of a portfolio of sites you will ensure compliance under the Environmental Permitting Regulations. The Environment Agency regulates a range of activities that affect the environment people and the economy. You will have the opportunity to create a better place for people and wildlife through the regulation of radioactive substances.
You will:
- Ensure radioactive materials are kept and used in a secure environment.
- Undertake inspections and audits at permitted sites ensuring compliance taking enforcement action when required and contributing to both the security of radioactive sources and protection of the environment.
- Assess the impacts of discharges of radioactive materials into the environment to ensure the protection of the public and the environment.
- Respond to and investigate incidents and non-compliance events making sure suitable preventative and protective action is implemented.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment. Full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
