POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director of Service Delivery the Cultural Support Worker will be responsible for setting up weekly cultural/traditional workshops for the Eagle Urban Transition Centre clients.
KEY ACTIVITIES:
- Setting up cultural workshops on topics relevant to cultural and spirituality.
- Contacting workshop presenters/Knowledge Keepers to provide cultural workshops.
- Drafting up informational posters on upcoming workshops.
- Contacting and following up with clients who have signed up for workshops to confirm their attendance.
- Tracking records of workshops completed names and contact information of participants including sign in sheets bus ticket distribution ordering snack food ensuring materials are on hand for workshops.
- Creating and continuous update a Calendar of Workshop Activities posting and distributing.
- Booking the EUTC common area for workshops.
- Assisting at the Eagles Nest Youth Program as required.
- Ability to function effectively as a team member.
- Other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of First Nations cultural values and traditions.
- Experience interacting with a diverse group of individuals.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work independently and co-operatively as part of a team.
- Must be punctual dependable reliable keep confidential information private and be well organized.
- Be able to follow directions and follow up.
- Must have a valid Class 5 drivers license and a reliable vehicle.
- Must have a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Clear Child Abuse Checks
