DescriptionRole: Software Engineering Manager

As an Engineering Manager at Pearson you will lead a team of engineers focused on developing and enhancing features for our industry-leading digital credentialing platform. You will be responsible for driving technical excellence fostering a collaborative team culture and delivering high-quality software solutions that support the strategic objectives of the Enterprise business unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Development
- Manage mentor and develop a team of engineers fostering a culture of growth collaboration and accountability.
- Conduct regular 1:1s performance reviews and support career development for direct reports.
- Champion Pearsons values and essential behaviors within the team.
- Technical Delivery
- Oversee the design implementation and deployment of Credly features ensuring alignment with business goals and technical standards.
- Collaborate with Product Managers Designers and other stakeholders to define requirements and deliver solutions on schedule.
- Ensure code quality security and maintainability through effective code reviews and best practices.
- Operational Excellence
- Drive continuous improvement in development processes testing and operational practices.
- Monitor and optimize team performance resource allocation and project delivery.
- Identify and resolve technical and operational challenges proactively.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams including Product Sales and Enterprise leadership.
- Represent the engineering team in planning sessions status updates and strategic discussions.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience managing software engineering teams ideally in a SaaS or enterprise technology environment.
- Strong technical background in software development architecture and cloud technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver complex features and projects on time and within scope.
- Excellent communication collaboration and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and modern development practices.
- Commitment to fostering diversity equity and inclusion within the team.
