Payroll Accounting LeadSupervisor
Job Summary
This position is based in Winnipeg or Edmonton office dependent on the selected candidates place of residence.

- Review payroll remittances such as union dues employer associations tax authorities workers compensation and benefits verifying accuracy and looking for process improvements.
- Perform reconciliations on general ledger accounts and prepare entries as required to balance accounts.
- Support month end / quarter end / year end reporting requirements.
- Prepare detailed reports of payroll information to internal stakeholders.
- Interpret collective agreements work with management and unions to ensure compliance and deal with any issues as they arise.
- Coordinate with the Digital Services team to test and implement payroll system calculations reports automation and enhancements.
- Leverage and utilize technology to help build efficiencies in payroll processes and reporting of remittances and financial data.
- Lead the payroll accounting team of administrators which may include delegating reviewing work training and coaching.
- Actively liaise with staff and management on payroll related inquiries.
- Maintain and safeguard confidential employee information.
What We Are Looking For
- Undergraduate degree or Diploma in Business Accounting or a combination of equivalent skills and experience.
- A minimum of 5 years payroll experience processing the full payroll cycle.
- PCP designation and experience using an in-house payroll system considered an asset.
- Completed or working toward a CPA designation considered an asset.
- Efficient with Excel has data processing skills and can effectively deal with confidential information.
- Proven track record of process improvements.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills customer service oriented and a team player.
- Experience leading a team is an asset.
- Ability to manage a large volume of work and can consistently meet deadlines while ensuring high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to forge grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment.
- Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them.
- Extra hours may be required occasionally while maintaining work life balance.
- Strong analytical critical thinking problem-solving skills and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
