What this role is all about:
TheTeam LeadPayrollis responsible forcoordinating and supporting the day-to-day delivery of payroll operations for a diverse employee population including unionized and non-unionized groups. This role provides technical leadership supports issue resolution ensures payroll compliance and data integrity and helpsmaintainan effective and employee-focused payroll experience.
The role also acts as a key resource for payroll system administration reporting process improvement and cross-functional collaboration with People & Culture Finance and other stakeholders.
This is a hybrid opportunity in British Columbia. While we welcome applicants from across Canada we anticipate filling this role with a candidate located in British Columbia.
What youll do:
Payroll Operations
- Coordinates and supports the day-to-day processing of payroll across multiple employee groups.
- Ensures payroll is processed accurately andin accordance withapplicable legislation collective agreements policies and internal controls.
- Reviewspayroll transactions including earnings deductions taxable benefits retroactive adjustments remittances and other payroll changes.
- Supports payroll balancing reconciliations and validation activities to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Supports month-end quarter-end and year-end payroll activities including statutory reporting and reconciliations.
- Assistswith payroll audits and supports preparation of payroll-related documentation and reporting.
Systems Reporting & Compliance
- Acts as a subject matter expert for payroll processes and payroll-related HRIS administration.
- Supports payroll system configuration testing troubleshooting and process changes in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintains payroll data integrity and supports system updates audits and controls.
Operational Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Providesday-to-day guidance coordination and support within the payroll team.
- Helps prioritize work support workload distribution andmaintaincontinuity of payroll operations.
- Leadsthe development documentation and maintenance of payroll procedures and process improvements.
- Identifiesopportunities to improve efficiency automation accuracy and service delivery within payroll operations.
Payroll Support & Employee Experience
- Acts as a key point of contact for escalated payroll inquiries andsupportstimelyaccurateresolution of payroll-related issues.
- Provides guidance and support to employees leaders and internal partners on payroll processes timelines and practices.
- Helpsmaintaina consistent service-oriented payroll experience through clear communication and follow-through.
- Identifiesrecurring payroll issues or trends and recommends improvements to reduce risk and improve employee experience.
What youll bring:
- Diploma or degree in Human Resources Business Administration Finance Accounting or a related field.
- 57 years of progressive payroll experiencewith proven leadership capabilities preferably in a complex multi-entityand/or unionized environment.
- PCP designationrequired; CPM considered an asset.
- Experience working with payroll and HRIS systems in a mid- to large-sized knowledge is an asset.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
