REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Masters Degree from an accredited program of physical therapy. Current valid licensure as a physical therapist in South Dakota.
Experience: One year experience as a physical therapist preferably in a school system or other pediatric setting.
Physical Requirements: Constant hand-eye/mind-eye coordination. Frequent walking keyboarding speaking writing bending carrying pushing pulling sitting stooping and turning. Some lifting up to 50 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
Other Requirements: Excellent written and verbal communication time management and problem solving skills. Computer proficiency in word processing spreadsheets data entry email and internet. Ability to keep information confidential.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES:
- Provides screening evaluation and intervention services of birth to three or students suspected of and/or diagnosed with disability in their least restrictive environment.
- Evaluates students using appropriate testing observation and supplementary information provided by records and outside agencies.
- Participates in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results integrate findings with other disciplines offer recommendations and develop IEPs and intervention plans to achieve goals.
- Develops physical management plans for daily classroom routines and trains staff in its safe implementation.
- Maintains student service administrative and other departmental records in accordance with District State and Federal policies.
- Assess need and recommend assistive technology necessary for function at school.
- Participates in parent teacher conferences and communicates with parents in regards to student progress; serves as a resource.
- Monitors the effects of physical therapy and the need for continuance or modification.
- Attends required meetings.
- Prepares reports as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
