POSITION: Faculty Human Anatomy and Physiology General Biology
STATUS: Full time Tenure track
DEPARTMENT: Natural Science/Physical Education
DIVISION: Academic Affairs
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
UNION: Faculty-AFT Local 604
REPORTS TO: Department Chair
PLACEMENT: Placement on salary schedule is dependent on qualifications.
HIRING RANGE: Base Compensation Hiring Range for 2026/2027 Academic Year: $63770-$113632/annually (9 months).
Compensation placement based on education and related teaching/work experience.

POSITION SUMMARY
Adapt to new and changing situations and demonstrate a positive attitude. Fifteen credit hours a semester constitute a standard load. This position requires evening courses as a portion of the regular teaching load. Position is subject to all terms and provisions of the Joliet Junior College faculty contract.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
at least three courses in Human Anatomy & Physiology Human Biology General Biology and other biology as needed.
closely with other instructors and special programs and services within the college to determine placements curriculum and academic support.
in course development assessment accreditation and planning activities.
willing to teach online and/or blended courses.
willing to teach evening courses as a portion of the regular teaching load.
in appropriate departmental meetings and recruitment activities; serve on committees.
students with academic advising.
a strong commitment to teaching and learning.
strong understanding and commitment to the community college mission.
at other campus sites as needed.
daytime evening and weekend courses as needed.
in professional development opportunities.
other contractual obligations as spelled out in the Joliet Junior College faculty contract.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
candidates must have a MS or higher in Anatomy and/or Physiology or a closely related field of Biology to meet credentialing criteria.
(2) years of teaching experience at the collegiate level.
to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
will be given to candidates with a PhD in Anatomy and/or Physiology or a closely related field of Biology.
at the community college level.

in teaching online and/or using course management programs.
in course development and assessment planning quality and accreditation processes and committee service.
with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds.
and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
multicultural competence.
