AECOM is seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our Remediation team in our Piscataway New Jersey office. The successful candidate will work with a diverse team of technical staff and leaders across our practice area delivering professional consulting services to some of our key clients.
This position is expected to begin ASAP.
This is a field and office-based role comprising approximately 70% field work and 30% office-based work. Office-based work will be conducted from the Piscataway office; this is not a remote or hybrid position. Field-based work will require travel within New Jersey and potentially the New York Metropolitan Area or outside of these areas (from days to weeks) to support projects as needed across the United States. When conducting field-based work expected work hours are 6:00/6:30 AM (arrive onsite) through mid- to late-afternoon (site departure).
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Performing routine fieldwork working under close supervision from field task leaders.
- Fieldwork will mainly consist of groundwater sampling.
- Frequently lifting carrying and loading field equipment such as sample coolers up to 20 pounds with assistance.
- Frequently moving across a variety of uneven terrains such as mud rock grass dirt and other unpaved terrains to conduct field work
- Frequently working in adverse seasonal weather conditions.
- Performing work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision. Reserving and organizing field-related travel expenses and receipts for reimbursement submittal (e.g. reserving a rental car purchasing project-related items using company credit card tracking receipts and preparing and submitting expense reports)
- Develop knowledge of job-specific federal state and local laws and regulations and assigned job specifications.
- Collecting and analyzing data under the supervision of an experienced scientist/engineer.
- Preparing progress reports for internal and external stakeholders. Attending meetings and reporting on project tasks.
Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science Soil Science and/or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Valid U.S. Drivers License required to visit project sites clients and other AECOM offices.
- As a condition of employment selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
- Candidate will submit to medical surveillance screening upon hire.
- Due to the nature of the work U.S. Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- HAZWOPER 40 Hour Certification.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word PowerPoint and Excel).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
