Pay Rate: Up to $47.73/hr (DOE)
Schedule: Full-Time 40 hrs/week On-Site
About the Role
Are you a detail-driven estimating professional with a passion for energy infrastructure Our client a major force in North American energy construction is seeking a Project Estimator I to join their Pricing & Analytics team on a 12-month contract. Youll play a key role in preparing and managing cost estimates across a diverse portfolio of projects from renewable energy to transmission infrastructure while collaborating with engineering procurement and construction teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed project cost estimates including conceptual preliminary and definitive estimates for new and existing projects
- Perform conceptual engineering design and develop preliminary construction plans to support estimating scope quantification
- Collaborate with engineering procurement and construction teams to gather and analyze project specifications drawings and other documentation to prepare accurate estimates
- Perform value engineering analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and project requirements
- Develop and maintain estimation tools databases and methodologies to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of cost estimating processes
- Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans to account for potential project uncertainties
- Present cost estimates and value engineering options to senior management project stakeholders and clients
- Coordinate with contractors subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and ensure the best value for the company
- Track project costs and variances throughout the project lifecycle updating estimates as necessary to reflect changes in scope design or market conditions
- Ensure compliance with company policies industry standards and regulatory requirements in all estimating activities
Requirements
Required:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Construction Management or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in project estimating with a focus on conceptual engineering and project design
- Experience in utility-scale energy projects including renewable energy power generation and transmission infrastructure
- Proficiency in value engineering principles and practices
- Strong understanding of construction methods materials and equipment
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in project estimating and cost management
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
Preferred:
- Masters or Post-Graduate Degree in Engineering Construction Management Business or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in project estimating with a focus on conceptual engineering and project design
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in field engineering or construction management
- Experience with cost estimation software and tools (e.g. PlanSwift WinEst CostX or similar)
- Familiarity with project management software such as MS Project or Primavera P6
