ABOUT US:

TUMO is a creative technologies center founded in Armenia now present in over 10 countries. Aimed at young people aged 12 to 18 TUMO complements formal education by offering opportunities to develop skills in areas such as Music Robotics Animation Game Development Programming Photography Cinema and Graphic Design. Each student follows a personalized learning path based on their progress and interests guided by learning coaches and experts.

TUMO is completely free of charge for its students made possible by our generous donors and partners. Our mission is to promote upward social mobility and accelerate social growth in Portugal.

The first TUMO center in Portugal opened in Coimbra in September 2023 and a second opened in Lisbon in September 2024 each serving 1500 students. Our most recent TUMO center opened in Porto in september 2025 already starting with 1.000 students.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This is a junior role where we are looking for people with 0-3 years of work experience with a great drive and initiative.

The Marketing & Community Specialist plays a central role in strengthening TUMOs connection with the local community. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with schools families local media and partners from the tech cultural and creative sectors ensuring that TUMO is an active and visible presence in the territory.

The role involves the conception and organisation of community events the creation of opportunities for students to publicly showcase their work and the promotion of TUMOs activities through local outreach and press relations. It also includes identifying effective ways to engage with parents and guardians supporting direct communication and collaborating closely with the content and communication team by capturing audiovisual material and providing on-the-ground support for storytelling and campaigns.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about community-building comfortable working with diverse audiences driven about and motivated by the impact of education creativity and technology on young people and their local ecosystem.

Apart from the local community building efforts our Marketing & Community Specialists from all centers (Lisbon Coimbra Porto) collaborate in developing the TUMO Portugal brand and initiatives. Student Admission campaigns large events presence in fairs etc. are all developed for the brand TUMO Portugal and in collaboration. Each Marketing & Community Specialist brings a unique set of skills to complement the team. Ideally this person would bring some experience and skill around specific lead generation channels such as building landing pages marketing analytics email marketing offline etc.

The main responsibilities include:

Marketing & Brand Promotion

  • Event conceptualisation delivery and support: Take lead of the conceptualisation planning management and operational execution of local events and promotional activities including open days exhibitions school visits and community-facing initiatives. Ensure events are engaging well-organised and aligned with TUMOs mission. Provide hands-on support during educational and public events collaborating with programme teams to ensure smooth operations and maximum audience engagement;
  • Audiovisual production: Capture high-quality photos and videos of ongoing activities events and student projects to support storytelling social media presence and promotional materials - this is mostly about capturing content - editing and distribution will mostly be covered by other team members;
  • Local visibility & media: Support relationships with local media and community stakeholders to increase the centers visibility and public presence;
  • Adapt graphic and audiovisual content for digital platforms and physical formats - starting from pre-existing content make adjustments and adaptations for the local context or needs;
  • Data-informed action: Monitor and analyse engagement data from digital campaigns and events quickly identifying trends insights and opportunities to adjust strategies and maximise impact.

Community & School Engagement:

  • School outreach: Develop and sustain relationships with schools and teachers supporting outreach activities presentations and initiatives that promote TUMOs educational model and programmes;
  • Student ambassador programme: Coordinate and operationalise the student ambassador programme supporting students in representing TUMO in schools events and community initiatives;
  • Community partnerships: Build and maintain partnerships with local cultural creative and technology organisations identifying opportunities for collaboration student showcases and community engagement;
  • Family communication: Create and maintain effective communication channels with parents and guardians providing clear information about programmes admissions and center life and supporting trust and engagement with the community.
  • Communication management: Manage the centers communication channels (phone email whatsapp) ensuring timely accurate and supportive responses to enquiries from students families and partners;
  • Center involvement: Participate in the day-to-day life of the TUMO center working collaboratively with the team and providing operational support when needed.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Educational Background: Background in Community management Communication Marketing Media Journalism Cultural Management Business or a related field; a strong interest in creative and digital communication is valued;
  • Community & Relationship Skills: Passion for working closely with students families schools and local cultural and tech communities; able to build and maintain positive relationships with different stakeholders;
  • Event & Project Support: Interest in planning supporting and running events and initiatives ensuring they are engaging and well-organised;
  • Marketing & Outreach Interest: Curiosity about marketing promotion and audience engagement with a willingness to learn and apply strategies to boost TUMOs visibility locally;
  • Content & Communication: Ability to create and adapt content in different formats (text photos video) for a variety of audiences; clear and effective written and verbal communication skills in Portuguese and English;
  • Personal Traits: Proactive dynamic organised and flexible with a strong sense of responsibility autonomy and commitment to TUMOs mission and values.
