General Education Paraeducator Needed
Location: Williston Central School
Williston Central School (WCS) is seeking an energetic and caring individual to join our 5th/6th grade teams in the role of a 1.0 FTE General Education Paraeducator starting FY27. We are looking for a skilled professional to act as a vital link across three grade-level teams providing support to both students and faculty to facilitate a successful educational experience.
This position is essential to our mission of fostering student growth independence and a collaborative school community. The successful candidate will be a proactive problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced teaming environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Taking a proactive approach to supporting 5th/6th grade teams by anticipating and meeting needs in advance of directions.
- Establishing positive relationships and working with individual students to problem-solve situations throughout their day.
- Providing strong organizational support including managing instructional resources making copies and ordering student supplies.
- Organizing field trips and special events and assisting with general team communication with families.
- Taking a leadership role in supervising students during lunch recess bus arrival/departure and off-campus trips.
- Utilizing consistent positive behavior management strategies across a variety of school settings.
- Participating in team meetings and working closely with teachers while maintaining strict confidentiality.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess
- A deep commitment to being a positive helpful contributor to the school community.
- The ability to take the lead work independently and remain flexible in a dynamic environment.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
- Professionalism in Google platforms (Gmail Drive Docs etc.).
- Superior attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- The physical capacity to meet the requirements of the position which may include lifting.
Position follows the school calendar: 6.5 hours/day. This is an hourly paid staff position that does not require teacher certification.
