PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Production Shift Leader is responsible for directing operations and leading personnel within a rotating shift environment while ensuring a strong understanding of customer needs to drive growth and success. This role oversees all shift activities to deliver exceptional performance in safety employee engagement cost control productivity efficiency quality and customer service. By fostering operational excellence the Production Shift Leader plays a critical role in achieving plant objectives and delivering superior results.

Reports to:Operations Leader

Span of Control:25-35 Hourly Production Associates

Schedule:Rotating 12 Hour shifts (2-2-3- Rotation)

What Youll Do

Live the Safety stand adhere to the safety responsibilities (20%)

  • Coordinate and ensure completion of all required safety training.
  • Lead the execution of monthly team safety initiatives.
  • Educate team members on safe work practices and operational standards.
  • Communicate Owens Cornings safety commitment consistently across the Operations Department.
  • Report investigate and resolve all safety incidents by identifying root causes and implementing permanent corrective actions.

Achieve customer satisfaction and quality commitments (25%)

  • Understand and communicate customer expectations throughout the Operations Department to ensure all products meet required standards.
  • Ensure timely and accurate production schedules to meet or exceed delivery commitments.
  • Enforce operational procedures to maintain product specifications and quality metrics.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on quality issues with operator involvement and implement effective resolutions.
  • Train and coach operators on problem-solving techniques to drive continuous improvement.

Execute Plants TPM Plan (15%)

  • Apply Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) principles to drive operational performance.
  • Lead Autonomous Maintenance (AM) teams through AM Steps 07.
  • Participate in and lead Focused Improvement (FI) projects using structured problem-solving methods.
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency and results.
  • Communicate TPM expectations and engage all team members in execution.

Lead and develop talent (20%)

  • Monitor and enforce compliance with all plant and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Provide clear candid feedback on performance and expectations regularly.
  • Build and lead effective teams to improve plant performance and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain documentation track performance and administer coaching and corrective actions as needed.
  • Review and adjust individual training plans based on development needs.

Achieve Plant cost targets (20%)

  • Utilize standard work practices to minimize variation and eliminate waste.
  • Develop and implement productivity projects and programs to optimize processes.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives by eliminating inefficiencies.
  • Allocate resources effectively to meet cost objectives.
  • Engage team members in identifying and executing productivity improvements.

What Were Looking For / Job Requirements

  • Experience:Minimum of 3 years of progressive leadership experience making high-impact decisions in a fast-paced environment while leading assessing and developing talent to achieve results within a manufacturing distribution or military setting. Employee and Labor Relations experience preferred.
  • Education:Undergraduate degree in business engineering or related area preferred
  • Skills:Strong communicator visionary leader change agent with Lean/TPM experience.
  • Traits:Safety-first mindset results-driven team-oriented adaptable and passionate about developing people.

Candidates must be able to meet the physical and environmental requirements of working in a manufacturing setting at Owens Corning. This includes supporting a 24/7 fast-paced and ever-changing environment in a non-climate-controlled facility. Essential physical capabilities include but arent limited to the ability to lift up to 40 pounds maneuver up and down stairs and perform continuous standing lifting bending and other physically demanding tasks.
