General Summary:
Reporting to the Sr. Programme Planning Manager the Programme Planning Coordinator is a key part of the team helping to manage the creation and delivery of accurate monthly programming grids for Discovery Channel and Animal Planet. You will have a passion for television especially factual content and enjoy watching and discussing new shows brainstorming programming stunt ideas and building strong schedules to keep our audiences entertained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creating linear programming schedules and inputting the schedules into broadcast software IBMS
- Monitor channel performance and implement short and long-term initiatives to ensure channels maintain their competitive edge.
- Work with Research to build and maintain an in-depth knowledge of audiences and competitors and to identify opportunities and threats facing the channels.
- Build strong two-way relationships with Programming Media Planning Listings Research seeking their input into scheduling strategy where appropriate and sharing scheduling strategy accordingly.
- Ensure timely production and communication of programming grids produced by programmes planners.
- Manage channel content inventories and forward plans.
- Assist with ad-hoc duties such as creating Channel Highlights decks as directed by Sr. Programme Planning Manager.
Requirements:
- Passion for television and content particularly factual content.
- Previous experience in a programming scheduling media planning and/ or experience managing inventory and databases in a media setting.
- Strong English language skills you will be required to work in English.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to perform methodical tasks.
- Experience using IBMS scheduling system is highly advantageous.
