Job Summary

THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED AN HOURLY RATE OF $19.50.

The Administration for Childrens Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services and provides subsidized childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child juvenile justice ACS oversees detention placement and programs for youth in the community.

ACS Office of Child & Family Health delivers direct medical services to children entering foster care and ensures the health care provided is comprehensive and appropriate. OCFH also offers individualized case consultations and training to ACS staff and foster care agencies on a variety of health-related topics and provides clinical expertise in developing medical and mental health policies programs and initiatives that support best case practice agency-wide.

Within OCFH the Developmental Disabilities Unit (DDU) works on behalf of intellectually and developmentally disabled children youth and parents during the foster care phases to identify refer and link them to resources to adequately meet their service goals. DDU also provides technical assistance case specific consultation and training to ACS staff contracted agencies and external stakeholders.

OCFH is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Developmental Disabilities Undergraduate Intern to join our team. As a Developmental Disabilities Undergraduate Intern you will support our DDU team in day-to-day operations and contribute to long-term projects aimed at improving quality of care for intellectually and developmentally disabled children youth and parents. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands on experience providing technical assistance case specific consultation and training to ACS staff and external stakeholders.

Additionally as a member of the 2026 ACS Summer Internship Program cohort you will participate in an enrichment program designed to fully engage students into the ACS and NYC government experience. Internship programming includes professional development workshops lunch and learns speaker events NYC government tours and networking opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

- Work alongside DDU staff to respond to agency staff and partner inquiries including identifying investigating and resolving problems and resource system issues related to intellectually and developmentally disabled children youth and parents
- Assist with disseminating information (e.g. documents and flyers) for upcoming trainings and workshops to agency staff and partners
- Help identify and troubleshoot system errors including reviewing reports for substantial system errors and providing recommendations for corrective action
- Act as a liaison for ordering office/promotional supplies and maintaining a stock of supplies
- Perform data entry functions in the Central Data System (CDS) and generate monthly reports
- Provide administrative support to the DDU team (e.g. manage staff schedules and appointments file clinical materials reserve conference rooms/meeting spaces etc.)

Learning Outcomes:

- Gain comprehensive knowledge of ACS operations in a high-level setting
- Develop project management skills and experience in assisting with delivering services to foster care recipients
- Enhance abilities in coordinating and executing organizational tasks and events


The selected candidate must be currently pursuing an undergraduate in Public Administration Social Work Psychology Public Health or a related field.

Qualifications :

As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
NOTE: Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program June - August each year.
