Are you interested in a career that is both gratifying and challenging and one where you have the potential to make immediate and significant contributions to the scientific understanding of many different infectious and neurodegenerative disease processes Are you interested in participating in teaching and research collaboration The Division of Pathology within the Emory National Primate Center is currently seeking a staff veterinary pathologist. You now have the opportunity to join a dynamic team composed of two board-certified pathologists and 20 pathology staff members supporting the clinical and research missions of Emory National Primate Research Center located on Emory Universitys campus in beautiful Atlanta Georgia! The Centers research programs include studies related to infectious diseases (such as HIV SARS-CoV-2 Zika and Malaria) vaccine development neuroscience and transplantation. We maintain a colony of approximately 3000 nonhuman primates including rhesus monkeys cynomolgus monkeys pigtail macaques sooty mangabeys squirrel monkeys and chimpanzees. A rodent vivarium is also located on site. The salary will be commensurate with the applicants experience. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing diagnostic pathology services both in support of the clinical care of the nonhuman primate and rodent colonies and in support of ongoing research projects.
  • Engaging in collaborative and/or independent research.
  • Teaching laboratory animal and primate pathology to laboratory animal veterinary residents.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • DVM (or equivalent) degree.
  • Eligibility for ACVP board certification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Motivated dependable and detail-oriented.
  • PhD degree and/or prior experience (<2 years) with diseases and pathology of nonhuman primates.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work schedule to be discussed during interview.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENING STATEMENT:

The Emory National Primate Research Center (EPC) in conjunction with Emory University conducts pre-employment screenings for all positions. These screenings may include an Information Network Associates (INA) and criminal background check and verification of work history academic credentials licenses and addition the process may include a drug screening with health assessment and review and mandate for various vaccinations. Updated COVID-19 vaccinations may be necessary for specific research projects.
