This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. This temporary position is with NC Commerce - Fiscal Services located at 301 N. Wilmington Street Raleigh NC Wake County.

Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $25.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

The North Carolina Department of Commerce is the states lead agency for economic community and workforce development. The Department works with local regional national and international organizations to fulfill its mission to improve the economic well-being and quality of life for all North Carolinians.

Fiscal Services provides guidance direction and administrative support for the various programs divisions and commissions within the agency. Duties and responsibilities for the selected candidate for this temporary position include:

* Processing invoices and expense reimbursements in the accounting system
* Responsible for the accurate and timely payments of the departments bills and obligations
* Assisting the Accounting Manager with establishing / implementing procedures for preparing examining approving recording filing disbursement account code sheets and supporting documentation

  • General knowledge of a variety of technology financial systems and software packages to create and maintain data.
  • Ability to understand interpret and apply the laws and regulations pertaining to financial records.
  • Ability to present financial information clearly and concisely in oral and written form.
  • Ability to research identify and resolve discrepancies in accounting transactions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Minimum Education and Experience

Associates degree in Accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in accounting; or High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience in accounting work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
