What will you be doing in your role

  • Provide legal representation in removal defense waiver applications and appellate matters representing clients before the immigration court and appellate forums as needed.
  • Handle complex cases primarily removal defense representing clients before the immigration court and the appellate system as needed.
  • Take on cases involving inadmissibility and other waivers consequences of criminal history appeals and other advanced immigration matters.
  • Support the Director in maintaining staff competency in immigration law and in establishing procedures that ensure quality client service
  • Establish and maintain procedures that ensure exceptional client service across the program.
  • Take responsibility for cases from intake through resolution.
  • Determine and ensure the availability of legal resources needed for effective service delivery.
  • Invest in your own professional development and transfer knowledge to the team.
  • Provide leadership through behavior and practice.
  • Conduct legal research to ensure compliance with immigration laws and regulations and provide technical support to program staff on their cases.
  • Monitors changes in immigration law and policy and translates complex legal developments into practical guidance for program staff.
  • Serves as a subjectâmatter resource for immigration law questions ensuring staff have timely and reliable legal guidance.

Are you the next Immigration Attorney

  • Law degree from an American Bar Association-accredited institution.
  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas.
  • 1-2 years of experience in immigration law preferred; experience in immigration court or other adversarial litigation settings is a plus.
  • Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Excellent client service skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently and as a member of a team.
