Part-Time Scale Clerk

Job Summary
Duties
- The Scale Clerk is responsible for weighing all inbound and outbound vehicles inspecting loose loads directing them to proper unloading areas and assisting in the details of purchases
- Ensure adherence to safety standards including use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) remove hazards as identified and maintain cleanliness of the work area
- Communicates clearly and concisely with landfill customers management and coworkers to ensure safety and customer service goals are met.
- Maintain accurate records as required
- Operate scale computer applying correct material codes
- Deliver customer service excellence via telephone two-way radio e-mail face to face etc.
- Process paperwork enter information and create standardized reports
- Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Handle cash sales/drawer
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Typical schedule for this position is 11:00am-4:30pm M-F with occasional Saturdays.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic math and data entry skills
- Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple tasks at once
- Ability to maintain accurate records
- Ability to follow oral and written communication
- Work cooperatively with other employees and the public
Working Conditions:
- Extensive communication with customers all throughout the day. Clear and polite communication is a primary job function for the scale clerk.
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions.
- Must be able to work in an environment where routinely exposed to dust dirt vibrations extreme climate and changes in weather
- Ability to read understand follow and enforce safety procedures.
