The University of Iowa Health Care department of Radiology is seeking a Patient Care Technician to under direct supervision assists the members of the PET Center Radiology Department in provision of efficient and safe patient imaging technologists with PET imaging studies in Radiology. Assists with the performance of a wide variety imaging procedures by participating in patient prep patient transport and room turnover.
Position Responsibilities:
- Responsible for facilitating smooth flow of patients through imaging areas by assisting imaging technologists in the performance of radiology procedures.
- Provides for patient comfort measures through social interactions.
- Assist nursing staff by prepping patients obtaining height/weight measurements verifying prep has been followed obtaining blood glucose levels if needed.
- Answering call lights
- Calling patients and provide prep instructions
- Assist technologists in getting patients positioned on cameras
- Walk patients to MRI or research scanner in PBDB
- Performs related clerical tasks including answering phones scheduling appointments and providing information to other departments.
- Assist reception when short staffed by checking in patients
- Demonstrate accountability for patient satisfaction.
- Cleans areas per designated guidelines and standards demonstrating proper use of approved disinfectants cleaning products and care of the housekeeping equipment.
- Stock and supply assigned areas.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Adheres to departmental established policies and procedures including but not limiting to double identification and hand hygiene.
- Collaborates with imaging technologists and other staff across Radiology to ensure optimal patient experience and efficient workflow.
- Performs special duties as assigned.
Percent of Time: 100%
Schedule: Monday-Friday Day Shift
Location: PET
Rotations:No holiday rotation or weekends.
Pay Grade: 5 - Merit Pay Plan
